Is there a free software program to download OS 8.1 for my solitaire. I tried downloading 8.1 via MS. After I installed the ISO buster program and tried to download and save the 9.69 MB cry file, the system tells me I have to register and it looks like I have to pay or donate to ISO buster?? I just need some tips or advice on how to dowload the latest versions of software from MS with out paying any $. Otherwise I can order the CD for $5 toal via MS.

The download is an automatic included service with whatever browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc) that you use.

The burning of the ISO file to CD can be done with many programs, I strongly recommend DeepBurner Free as that one works well and is as the name implies totally free.

Go to http://www.deepburner.com/?r=download and select DeepBurner Free 1.9

Once installed, choose ISO file, browse to where you have the downloaded file, choose Burn CD.

Tim or anybody..I put the CD in for SE 8.1 which I downloaded and burned to a CD via deep burner. I activated 8.1 and arabesk 4.1 and now my solitaire justs shuts off(crashes). I eneted the registration# for SE8 when the system restarts and it prompts you for what lanuage I choose english then choose yes for continuation the screen goes toatally blue with an hour glass and then justs shuts off. I restarted it several times and even pulled the plug.

Unfortunately, as I have switched over to the S4000Pro with it's Bogart SE I have no direct experience with Smart Edit 8 or 8.1.

Perhaps someone else has had experience/issues with installing 8.1?

What OS where you using before you attempted to upgrade?

Make sure you downloaded the correct OS. There is a BOOT disc for the Solitaire PLUS and the regular INSTALL PRODUCT for regular Solitaires.

Actually, the Solitaire is the only machine that can use either the Boot CD or the Product CD, so that would not be the issue.

As no one else with direct experience has chirped in I will give you what hypothetical help/sleuthing I can.

There have been a few OS versions that occasionally put machines in "loops" of load and crash.

Make sure you got a full downloaded file of SE8.1 as unlike most downloads that either are successful or prematurely shut down and you lose the download with the MS site I have multiple times gotten a partial download and it notates as "completed".

So check the file size (bytes) that you have downloaded against the file size on the MS server to see if your downloaded file is actually the entire file.

Also, make sure you are using the right Activation code.

Beyond those two suggestions, I generically suggest using the SE8 OS CD to re-install and if that is successful try installing SE8.1 again.
