BB Copy Rectangle

I'm having the worst time trying to use the BB Copy Rectangle program.
I've captured my pictures in my scanner and then I bring them over on my Internal Smart Card to my Prestige using Photo-Studio 2 or even Photo Transfer. The pictures appear on my Bin side, just the way I captured them. Then I use the BB Copy Rectangle program for certain pictures that are rectangle pictures and want to place another graphic around the black portion. I put my graphic and then the rectangle picture on my story board and bring up BB Copy Rectangle and select my Source area for my desired copy. I check it in the Destination Area window, everything looks fine. Then I make a scene from that and when I see it now in my Bin area there is a black area still exposed on the right side of the picture. It appears to be about 20 pixels or so. If I move the crop on the Source side to the left about 20 pixels the final scene looks OK
What have I done wrong? I've done this a 1000 times without a failure.
I even downloaded the latest All Software Program and the problem is still present.

Your procedure is the same as I use for photo montages. The only difference my be in the photos in the scene bin. Unless you are using Photo Studio, the picture size should be 704 X 480 or something very close for 4X3 SD images. Maybe before loading them onto your smart card, you may need to process them in a photo editing program by adding canvas around the vertical stills to get them in the size neighborhood. Just a guess, as I have not had that problem with standard 4x3 or 16x9 ratio images in BB world when using copy rectangle for vertical images. My vertical images have an unwanted background on the sides that I use copy rectangle to eliminate and replace with graphic BG.

Hi Bob:
Thanks for your reply. I followed your instructions, to no avail.
I set my perimeters at 704x480, I was using 720x480, in my scanner and it still gives me an extra black boarder on the right side.
By the way, I used Photo Transfer as the program the first time and tried the transfer using Photo Studio2 on a second try.
It appears that the entire photo is moving to the left. Cutting off some of the image on the left side and giving me a black boarder on the right side.
I've been using this program for years, now all of a sudden it is giving be trouble.
I think I'm going to delete the programs and do a re-install of those two programs.

Hello Everyone,
In trying to check out Jeff's problem with Copy Rectangle, I went to my S-4000 Pro with Bogart 2.3C freshly loaded and found that I have the same problem with the location of the Rectangle but found another problem that to me is a real mystery.
Blue Box World is listed as "Active" in the install product screen under Systems Settings. But then it is not found anywhere in the Transitions screen. Or the Effects screen....?
The old Regular "Bluebox" is there and functions as it always did.....but the newer and much better featured "Bluebox World" is not there. Some of it's parts are listed and seem to function, like Copy Rectangle, and Change Chroma and Mask rectangle, move Rectangle and Separate Chroma. I have clicked on "ALL" But I can't seem to find the actual Blue Box World area for chomakeying out a green or blue background. Am I not looking in the correct location or is it missing in action?

Hi Jim,
I installed Bogart 2.3c (PAL)
BlueBoxWorld 1.0 is installed and active, but I also can't find the program in transition list.

It is not released yet for BOGART SE and appears that it may be in BETA testing.

Hi Everybody:
Well, I'm using OS 8.1 on my Prestige. This problem was not there, I don't think it was, on the first release of OS 8.0.
Now, this is causing me to go a little crazy. I can't get any montages out the door. I've had to use the rectangle screen and put a green boarder on both sides and then use BB World using the green screen.
I thought I would re-install 8.0 but when I wanted to reload it I was informed that it would delete everything on the hard drive. So, I couldn't do that. I'm really stumped.
I even went and did a capture on another of my scanners and then to my thumb drive and then to Photo Studio2. I deleted Photo Studio1 so that it wouldn't interfere. The transfer of pictures seem ok, in my bin, when I use Photo Transfer and/or Photo Studio. It is when I get to the BB Copy Rectangle program that it doesn't work.
STUMPED IN MIAMI,

To add more to this topic. I did a test not using a JPEG file but using two scenes (video) and tried to use BB Copy Rectangle.
I took two scenes and put them on the story board each 6 seconds. I selected "SOURCE AREA" and designated the area using the tools there. I then selected "DESTINATION AREA", and made a very careful note as to the boundaries on the destination. I created a scene and still the new scene has shifted. I'm convinced now that it is in the program.
Anybody else check it to see if it is working correctly on their system?
I tried, last night, downloading the 8.1 again and reloaded it, still the problem exists.

Hi Jeff,
I did try this on my Kron Plus with OS 8.1 and you are correct - there is something wrong with Copy Rectangle. There is a very noticeable offset between the Source Area that I select and what the Kron does with it. This problem is quite visible both with large JPEGs and simple patterns generated in the New menu. I'm not sure how effectively my trying to compensate for the offset works.

Hello everyone,
I taught a class about Blue Box World several years ago and the problem of the offset was evident at that time as well. It was always off enough from the selected destination that it was maddening. Then it got better in one of the later versions and now it is back again being way off.
But I guess they are working on making the new OS work rather than fixing the stuff that has been wrong for several years.
Just my opinion.
