Bogart 2.3d Update/re-install??

After going from Bogart 2.2 to Bogart 2.3 as an update, I lost most of the items in "New" and kesabra didn't work correctly. Good advise from the group recommended that I do a new install. That solved the "known" issues with "New" and Ksebara. Other problems may have existed that I didn't know about.
However, going from 2.3c to 2.3d with just an update also caused some problems "Custom Images" disappeared along with additional software items in the select picture for the "Screen 2 picture select" window. Again, other software issues may have been problematic unkown to me at the time. A full install brought everything back to "normal". Above information was related to an S4000Pro editor.

Yes, the upgrade path is unacceptable to me as it always loses some of the graphic programs functionality.
I just tried first the upgrade to 2.3d which did not fix the downconvert artifact problem and lost some of the graphic program functionality.
Then I tried the very inconvenient and time consuming (if you are actually using these machines for editing active projects) full, destructive install which involved approximately seven hours of downtime between archiving the drive using HD Backup, installation and Restoring the drive projects and it likewise did not fix the downconvert artifact bug which the release notes said it would.

I don't get it, I read that people are getting OS 2.3D version,I can't even get a response after sent the them a message daily since last Wednesday that my S4000pro is inoperative after installing version 2.3c. I sent a message as instructed daily and get no response. What the heck is going on? My unit is dead, not working. I can't even reload an earlier version because I can't get the front drawer open, so sending me 2,3D is worthless.
Who do I contact to get this fixed? It's wedding season time and I can't edit, everything is on hold untiil I get this unit going again. People that know I have the Casablanca S4000 pro are laughing at me. For instance my son that uses Pinnacle Studio that he got free when he bought an analog to digital converter. One oher person that introduced me to Casablanca and now uses Pinnacle
I'm trying to be patient but I just want some one to let me know what's going on, what I should do now, that's all I ask.

Ron,
It sounds like you ran into that issue where 2.3c damages the unit which is why they came out with 2.3d so fast and told everyone to not install 2.3c if they had not yet.
You need to contact tech support, not the BB as your unit is going to need to Boulder for repair I'd say.

Ron as a last ditch effort, you say the unit is dead. Do you mean it won't turn on?? If so, have you tried unplugging it for a couple of hours and seeing if it will self start when you plug it back in.?? If you've already tried that, then Tim is probably correct in that you may be one of the unlucky ones that the upgrade disc has damaged the unit. Give the unplug a try before shipping it off to Boulder.

Hi Bob,
When I say the unit is dead, I meant,it fires up and you can see the data entering on the VGA screen and those little squares light up on the front panel. But then the front panel turns blue and the VGA screen goes blue and nothing happens. I have use the 24 hour shutdown procedure, but I think Tim is correct, the unit is going to have to go in as I hear from one other person. Someone told me there is a chip that has to be replaced. Thanks guys for at least responding.

As a thought, have you tried booting it up without the VGA connected ?

Whoa , hold the phone, if it powers up that is NOT what I define as dead, not working.
Ron, what you have there is a bug I have personally run into and it seems to be caused simply by a crash, power cord pull or reset with a CD left in the burner.
Eject the CD and the unit will probably power up fine.
Up to yesterday the only way to eject the CD that I knew how to do was to disassemble the unit to physically get at the burner.
However, just this morning Jörg said you can force an eject upon power up by holding down the ESC key on the keyboard while powering up.
I have not actually tested/verified this, but Jörg's info is fairly reliable (except in predicting the future
) so give that a try and I bet it will make you happy.

Tim,
Yes. I am a happy man,
you are a genius,
that tip Jorg gave you was what worked.
Oh and thank you Jorg.
I hope Lou Bruno and everybody on the forum reads this tip, expecially about how to open the drawer without taking the unit apart.
There was no disc on the tray, (I did know that) and I never pull the plug with out powering down the unit.
So now I took my old Bogart SE Version 1.5/2,2 as my booth disc and everything came up,
including all my software was active, the settings were as I set them,
and strangely. when I checked the version, it said it was 2.3
with no initial after it, just 2,3.
Thanks all of you for your suggestions, and Tim, if you are at the March Meeting next year, I'll buy you the best drink in the house. I am so happy now
I better get down there and start working. Of course I'll wait till they send me the 2,3D version.

Good to hear Ron, happy to help and thank you for the kind words.
Certainly I plan to be at MGT 2010, wouldn't miss it for the world, tons of fun and learning, best bang for the buck out there.
