I just got a new old Cassie Classic from a guy in Calif. Its probably 15 years old and It didn't come with any paper work so I am in the dark about a few things. First does anyone know how to set the clock? It is flashing 00:00 AM. I suspect thats gonna get old fast. In the old days of the VHS VCRs it used to annoy me when I went in some where and the time was flashing. My wife used to say get over it. But I'd like to set it. Another thing probably for the powers to be, can you up-grade the ram? I found out before I got it that there is a larger Hard-drive available for it . Its gonna be a shock getting off my Renommee onto the Classic. Its slower than the second coming. Also is the superVHS and RCA's on the front inputs? Thanks Bob.....

You are really stretching my memory here, yes the old Classic was slow, not unlike me.

First from memory, the clock is set from the system settings menu, there are clock sliders for the hours and minutes.

I’m not sure what RAM you can use, but in any case I doubt this will increase the speed of the rendering.

If again I remember correctly my HD was a massive 11GB, WOW, not sure how large a HD it will take.

There was certainly S Video and RCA connectors at the rear of the machine and I believe also at the front.

Oh yes those were days, I used to drink gallons of tea and coffee waiting for the unit to render effects, etc.

Thank you Ian I got the clock set. This one has a whopping 9GB memory. It says in system settings that is 33.2 minutes of video. The rendering got a little better with a simpler transition. The horizonal roll is what took 20 minutes. Its neat playing with this old thing. Chet Davis told me I could get 181 GB HD for it and its still available. Whe this thing was new I was editing with a Newtek Toaster. I loved it but when it finially quit there were no parts to be had. I had to scrap it. That was in 2000 when I bought my first Avio. That was the old black one, I think it had a 40GB HD, no DVD burner. I loved it when I got it. It was the cats meow. The next avio had a 120GB HD with a DVD burner and the first abeskas ,Smelled wrong, authoring system. Those were the days. My first Avio when it rendered I went and took a nap. it took it 4 hours to render. Yeah those were the days. Thanks for you help. Bob....

The titling package written for the original Casablanca called Monument Titler was supposed to be very good compared to the titling software that has come out since then. I never owned that model so my comment is based on "hearsay evidence" which would be thrown out by any self-respecting judge....

Yes Craig the titling page is much simpler than our page today. It seems much easier to look at. It has a background of the sky and clouds. It has very few options though. Those may have come with additional software packages. IT has a couple of transitions that I like. One of which is called cylinder. It looks pretty neat I didn't render it I just looked at in the preview window which is tiny. My old eyes aren't what they used to be but I have to squint to see any detail at all. I have it on a 22inch monitor. If it was on a 9Inch monitor, which I edited on for a kazillion years, I'd need a magetflying glass. LOL! I am enjoying putzing around with it. This is what retirement is all about. I still work but I love what I do, and unless I have a shoot or editing session scheduled, I can play as I want to. Bob...
