S4000PRO Will Not Start

Was editing footage and in the middle of previewing a transition (don't recall specific one) and the sreen went blank but the unit stayed on. Could not do anything in this state so pulled the plug on the unit. Now it will not restart. If I pull the plug and put it back in teh unit, the blue screen comes on teh unit and occassionally it shows the Casablanca name, but then it shuts down. I seem to recall this happening on occassion w/ my old Kron. Is it possible that it is overheated or requires a certain amount of time before it is operational again? Just hope it's nothing catastrophic. And I am aware it's not reccommended to yank the plug as I did, but when it's locked up, one has little choice. Any ideas what's up?

Actually, one has a choice.
Don't pull the plug.
Use the forced power down as I have not experienced a time that did not work.
Hold the Power button and the Ok button in for a prolonged time and it will say "forced power down" on the front panel screen and then do so.
As for your current problem, I have run into that after even a normal power down and during a crash where a CD or DVD was left in the burner.
Try holding the "esc" key down (top left hand side of the physical keyboard) while powering up to force an eject of your burner.
If there is no CD or DVD in the drawer then that is not your problem and I would use the forced power down and once it is down pull the plug, leave it for a half hour unplugged.
Then plug it back in and see if it powers up on it's own, give it ten seconds to begin.
If it does not, then press the power button once, firmly and again wait to see if it powers up normally after that.
If not report back that this all failed, but probably one of these will work.

N.B. If you have a VGA plugged in you may also (after trying the above) try the unit with this lead (and any other that isn't necessary) removed.
