Is it workin?

My local dealer says all the new fixes and versions have addressed all the ailments in his Bogart editor, and he has no complaints with it now. How about anybody else? Is Bogie a worker?

They have made great strides and it is finally a functioning editor, but to say "all the ailments have been addressed" is ludicrous as there are still a ton of things not working right or not working at all on the machine.

For the most part Media Manager is non-functional and there are still many bugs on the Bogart side.

I can now edit both HDV and SD and earn money with it, but it is not time for MS to sit back or slow down in fixing all the things still left to be addressed.

I have been struggling with a Casablanca S2000 now for 3 months, had bluray burner included - that was the reason for upgrading from my previous Digital upgraded Avio which I now regret. All I have been able to produce so far is a bluray disc which will not play on my Sony BDP-S350 bluray player - Macro System (Germany) say they now have an example of the Sony S350 and are working on the problem. Meanwhile the S2000 which is excellent at editing and producing a film in SD (except it takes 5 hours to render a 1 hour film) it just will not burn it to DVD. Have now run out of patience and am asking for my money back - do you blame me?

Brian,

I'm sorry your having issues with the S-2000. I just set-up an S-2000 for a customer and he loves it. Before you ask for your money back, I would suggest down-loading the new upgrade version 2.3e that is now available. It addresses more of the known bugs including Arabesk, media manager, and the Bogart side. Arabesk is a real-time transfer unles you have alot of fast motion content, then it will take a little longer to convert to MPEG 2. As with any editing system, there are going to be issues (even more on the pc or mac side) to deal with. I would highly recommend updating your unit first.

Thanks Joel for the advice. Now received the updates, 2.3e for Bogart and 4.5 for Arabesk and I am mightily relieved to say that I am now able to produce standard DVDs from both HD and SD inputs through Arabesk. The only issue I have now is that of compatability between the Cassie and my Sony BDR-S350 blu ray player. I am told by Macro Systems (Germany) that they are aware of this problem and are addressing it. Has anyone else out there had the same problem with Sony blu ray players?, I understand that blu ray discs produced on the Cassie do play OK on other makes of player.
Kindest Regards

I couldn't get the BDR S350 to play AVCHD DVDs burned on the Bogart 4.4 Arabesk system. It was suggested that I download the latest firmware update.
Since the firmware update is only downloadable via PC and not Mac, I had to order the physical disc upgrade. After installing the latest firmware, not only does it not play back AVCHD disc, but it no longer plays back SD DVDs burned on Casablanca units. I think I'm going to go back to VHS tapes maybe BetaMax    !!!

Hello Bob
Know just how you feel!! Installing the latest updates as stated above certainly helped me. I downloaded & installed the latest firmware for the Sony S350 (version 19 I believe) but it made no difference at all.
Wish you success!!
Regards
Brian

It is real hit and miss, with mostly miss to date on what blu-ray players will playback MS created blu-ray disks.

PS3 is the best bet, but even that is not a shoe in for perfect playback all the time.

No joy here with Sony BDPS360 before or after downloaded firmware upgrade. Will not play AVCHD Arabesqued to standard DVDs as stated.

Samsung BD-P1600/XAA plays AVCHD Arabesqued to Blue Ray, but not to Blue Ray DVD. No firmware upgrade allowed when requested on-line.

We'd better get a list started. It's going to be a long winter.

TRUE......In PS 3, I sometimes get a jitter. This can be overcome by placing the AVCHD disc on PAUSE, sometimes a few times, then the jitter will go away.
