S 2000 drawer locked shut and no boot up?

Seems as if you try to boot up the s2000 with a disk in the drawer, it will not boot up and nothing happens. Plus you can not open the drawer to remove the disk and thus remedy the situration. Tech support advises to D/L a program from MS in Germany and put it on a memory stick to plug into USB port. I did and had to load two other programs in order to get it on the stick. I then had to try to start up the 2000 and press F10 when it beeped.....Nothing doing. I have returned the s2000 to Bolder, CO at the tune of $78 and will now wait for the fix!!!
Bottom line is dont have a disk in the drawer when you start up the 2000. I think it sucks that they can't have a release button built in if it can't start up with a disk in drawer

Yes, that sucks.
I had to open my S4000 about four times by disconnecting everything and removing two phillips and five torx screws to get to the burner's physical eject button.
Since then I learned holding the ESC button down during power up will force a drawer ejection and I sure wish that had been in the manual or release notes.
My understanding is your S2000 and the newer S4100 will not work with the ESC button and require some small software program on a flash drive as you mentioned did not work for you.
Ugh!

I am currently cycling the Blue Ridge Mtns for a few weeks, otherwise, I could send you the PDF file on how to make a FLASH DRIVE program which, when inserted into your usb port, which can dislodge the CD from the drive.
There is a method that Jörge posted on Carrol's Listserve and it was SAVED at
http://clamcamvideo.com/resources.html#other.
It is a procedure where you have to download the information from a website and transfer a file to a flash drive and then insert the flash drive while powering-up. MAYBE...CHET has the information too on his site.
However, the procedure is a real "
HORSE and PONY SHOW." The procedure is only for the S2000/4100 series to the best of my knowledge.

Lou,
Les says he got that already from tech support and it did not work and so he has had to send it into Boulder.
PS - Lou enjoy yourself. I am headed down to Orlando on Thursday for some rest and relaxation prior to WEVA.

Yes, it really sucks that after they (the German Engineers) made that mistake in the design of the S-4000 they should have learned from that blunder and not done the very same thing on the S-2000 and the S-4100.
I think there is a saying about not learning for past experience always leading to repeating the same mistakes in life. They have proved this axiom to be very true.

We will soon see what the outcome is. My UPS tracking said Bolder got it this morning, I will post results.
PS.. Chet did not know anymore then what MS tech had to say. I guess MS will have to open it up

Well good and bad news! MS got the s2000 and returned it on same day. Another 7 days to get here but NO further cost to me. And it works fine but no mention on what to do so if it happens again I guess we will use a can opener Ha!, got to get those screw drivers out.
Good luck to the users out there and thanks

There is a way to pull off just the front faceplace on the S2000. Contact Tech support.
