I-Pod compatibility

Post by Rte80west »

Another easy one...

Can music from I-Pod be transferred into the S4000? Any restrictions on format?

If you are looking for the easy solution to this inquiry - simply connect an audio adapter/cable (sub-mini plug to phono paired plug) and go from the earphone output of the iPod to the audio input of your Casablanca. Real time transfer: lo-tech but high efficiency ;) .

That would be perfect... except I have no I-Pod. And purchasing one somewhat hinges on this answer. I'm thinking someone out there has done it or at least tried it.

My Friend,

Why don't you believe a good solid answer from the most experienced man around. He is telling you the truth and you insult him by asking if anyone has actually tried it. Please be aware of how your questions sound and who you are dismissing.

This is not the way to get answers from any forum especially this one that prides itself on being a friendly family type group.

To use an I-Pod you need a PC or Mac to load the music onto it in the first place - normally from CD, or purchased through the software that helps to manage your music and I-Pod, I-Tunes.

If you intend to use the first option you could simply put the CD into the S4000 anyway.
If you intend to use the second option, copyright allowing, I-Tunes can burn your tracks (with track names) to a CD that can be imported into the Casablanca along with said track names.

Use Media Manager for the above. However-Chet's advice is a given and proven technique.

Michael D & Lou, thank you for your responses. Appreciate it. Just as I appreciated Chet’s response.

Jim: I think you misinterpreted my response. I meant no ill will toward Chet and respect his input. I did not realize he was telling me it works, I thought he was theorizing it MAY work and I should try it. I do not own an I-Pod so my natural response was to ask if anyone has tried it. Again, just a mix up.

Chet's answer does not actually need anyone to test it as he simply described using analog input which can be done successfully with any type of equipment that has analog RCA jacks or a headphone jack, including an I-Pod.

I have an 80Gb video I-Pod and 8Gb video Nano and a shuffle.

I do not use any of them for input though as my preferred method is digitally via a CD-RW.

For that method you use either the MP3 or WAV file format.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.
