Understanding Chapter Points

I have approximately 2 hrs of edited video that will constitute a program within my Solitaire. Within the program, I'd like to add chapter points so that viewers will be able to advance their DVDs to specific points that might be more applicable for their viewing needs. Can someone please give me the sequential steps? Obviously I have not done this process before and would appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

Bill,

There are several ways to do this, but I will give you my preferred method.

Create a Scene of the entire Storyboard.
Clipboard this to an empty Project set to the appropriate settings (size, proportions, formatting).
Use the Split Function to split to the Chapter points using Add for all.
Go into each of the newly created Scenes (Chapters) and name them as you want them to appear in the DVD menu.

Then go into Arabesk, Add Film, Edit Chapter Menu, set it to Chapters->Scenes, Names.

Then edit/tweak the Chapter Menu to your desire.

When you are finished tweaking I suggest using Archive to save your Chapter Menu settings.

Edit Menu, tweak your menu.

When you are finished tweaking I suggest using Archive to save your Menu settings.

Write DVD.

Tim,

Thank you for your quick responce. I must confess that I am still very green with the Solitaire's functionality. I don't use the clipboard process etc. I basically, down load my footage, move appropriate clips from the scene bin to the story brd., throw in some transitions / effects etc. then configure so that my burned DVD starts quickly / automatically. Very basic stuff.... Additionally, I don't know how to create a scene of the entire story board. What is the significance of the process? That said, is your path the most basic approach? Thanks again.

Let me throw my 2-cents into the ring here... Tim did a great job describing succintly and clearly a great method for understanding and creating chapters under Arabesk software. I would affirm that his method described is one that is recommended.

If you would like more info on this topic - I have two suggestions:

On my website in the Premium area (Members Content) you will find an article/tutorial about this very same question: How Should I Go About Preparing my project for DVD Authoring

And others in the community have found great value in my Casablanca Foolproof Volume 2 Tutorial DVD on Arabesk 4. That resource is available from your Casablanca reseller/MSUS -- see the MacroSystem US website here for details

Regards,
Chet

The Tutorial DVD 'Casablanca Foolproof Volume 2: DVD Authoring with Arabesk 4 has a list price of $34.99. You can order that DVD through your Casablanca dealer, through MSUS or on my online store: http://www.casablancaexpert.com/store

The membership to my website (with more than 300 articles and 30 streaming videos) is $12.99 per month or $62.35 for 6 months.
For more info click here

I should point out that website members receive a 20% discount on all training resources (DVDs) so the above Tutorial DVD would be $27.99

Regards,
Chet

Hi Bill

It is well worth the money to become a member - there is so much information and tips and tricks on Chets website, even I who have been using the casablanca system for 12 years now have learned new things from it. Signing up to the website makes searching for the required information so easy and you just watch the videos of your interest over and over again if you didn't get it the first time.

That's just my opinion.
