I've been shooting an HDV project (30 hrs. worth) for the past 5 years and it's now time to edit. I want to burn the final disc onto blu-ray. I'm looking at the top-of-the-line S4100.

But I have a few questions...
Will the blu-ray discs play on most players? If not, is this a problem with Pioneer or with the Arabesk system?
Can the unit input audio that's been recorded on SD cards in the WAV format?
Can the unit handle video from the Flip UltraHD camera?
Can the unit handle SD and HD video on the same timeline?

ARABESK uses AVCHD. Some Blu-Ray players will recognize the AVCHD format others will not. Play Station2 works fine. CHET HAS A LIST ON HIS SITE OF PLAYERS.

YES..I USE MEDIA MANAGER in 2.4C with my FLIP HD. The SD FLIP ALLOWS IMPORTATION VIA THE BOGART SIDE AS OF THE PRESENT. THE NEW BOGART 3.0 IS SUPPOSE TO WORK FROM THE BOGART SIDE.

YES>>in 2.4C YOU HAVE TO UPCONVERT VIA THE CLIPBOARD. THE NEW BOGART 3.0 WILL ALLOW THE DIRECT INPUT OF SD TO A HD PROJECT. NOTE: SD CAN NEVER HAVE HD QUALITY.

Lou--Thanks for the input! A few follow-up questions because I'm still unclear...

Was Macro System's decision to use AVCHD as the blu-ray format of choice (hope I'm wording that correctly) a potentially bad decision? Or is this the format most other editing software programs use as well? Or to put it another way, is everyone who is burning BR dealing with the same sort of compatibility problems, not just Macro System?

When converting WAV to mp3, isn't that going to suffer a quality hit? I recorded in 44.1kHz/16 bit (rather than mp3) for that very reason, to preserve quality. (These are nature sounds...birds, wind, water, stuff that's soft to begin with.)

You mentioned using the SD Flip footage. Does the same apply to HD Flip?

The AVCHD option is supposed to be a temporary solution to burn HD DVD or Blue Ray...we're all still waiting for a more "conventional" or "universal" way to author and burn Blue Ray Discs...But I have to say that I'm a little bit tired to wait (as for many other things in the Bogart OS that are still not solved even in the V 3.0...).

For the sound Lou is right, but there's also another way to import directly into Bogart your .WAV files.
Just burn a CD with your .WAV files, go to Recording in the Audio menu, open the CD/DVD trail, put your CD in, and click on the CD Rec button, select the files you want to import, and press ok...that's it...

With this methode you don't need to convert your .WAV files and you'll keep the best quality...

Correct. However, the question was using a SD card to import audio. This is done via Media Manager only.

AVCHD is becoming a very, very popular delivery format option as it does not require a Blu-ray disc which is expensive. However, there is a time limitation. AVCHD is also becoming popular in both consumer and semi-pro cameras as well.
