Hey Lou have you got any Idea how I can get rid of the "DVin ilink" on my DvHD-700? I can't figure a way to get it off. My customers don't want to look at that on their video. I guess if push comes to shove I'll call Sony next week. Thanks Bob.....

OK....try this.

MENU>DISPLAY SET>DISP OUTPUT..........place it on LCD PANEL. Me thinks ya may have it on V-OUT/PANEL.

HINT ALSO: Many users don't know about the ASSIGN button. You can ASSIGN DATA CODE on or off, Downconvert etc. This is found in OTHERS.

Good Luck......let me know.

I know it has to be something simple.

Could you explain to me the exact steps that are being done and the results.

Are you stating that anytime you RECORD from an outside source to the 700, that you have "DVin link" appearing on the RECORDED tape?

Are you using firewire to RECORD?

HD or SD?

Hi lou, Sorry to be so late but its been a long day. Today is my biggest payday of the year so it takes a lot of effort. Ok, I have a firewire cable hooked from the front of my Rennie to the port marked HDV/DV With the Ilink symbol. I get this graphic on screen that says DVin ilink. It is there thru out the recording. I can get it to go down by pushing the Display/Battinfo button but the time code toggles up. I either have one or the other. The LCD panel setting in the menu had no effect. Thats what it was on when I got in there. I am at my witts end. I have this week to get it settled I didn't have any racing this week end but I have a show at new synmimna this Friday And I have a church service in the morning. I have a mountain of stuff to put on DV tape and get it out of my HD. I only have 2 300GB HD's. I guess I need to buy another. Do those ever come on the market used? Thanks lou for your help I really appreciate it. Bob...

Contact me off-line. Gocycle@optonline.net Maybe we can get together on the phone and walk through this siutuation. There is no reason it should appear on a recorded tape.

Last Q: Does the ilink symbol appear on the tape when placed into another deck or camera? OR does it only appear on playback using our 700 deck as a LCD icon?

If you are using the SAME deck as playback, the default is the display of the iLink symbol all the time when connected to FIREWIRE. It is NOT being RECORDED to tape even if it appears that way.

Simply, pull out the firewire cable, with the deck powered-off of course, and then power-up. The iLink icon is gone. Press the DISPLAY button to remove any and all LCD read-outs.

Again, to re-test, place the HD tape into your camera or another deck, connect to a monitor or HDTV.

You should not see the icons unless you bring them up via a display button.
