If you ran the camera continuously without starting and stopping then there won't be any breaks in the footage that the editor is analyzing that indicates starts and stops.

You said the color looks bad on one monitor and good on another monitor? Which one do you use/trust?

Good morning Craig. That's whats puzzling me. I started and stopped the camera several times during this shoot but for some reason it didn't see them. One thing I did notice after I posted the failure last night, I split them manually and put one scene up on the story board and went in the special screen and the brightness was 100% and the contrast was 141%. Could that have effected my video as it went in? Those must have been there from another setting at another time. Maybe this is why I have been using YC all this time, its a pain in the boody! LOL! I will have a little time this afternoon to play with it. My shoot tonight got moved to tomorrow and my shoot tomorrow got canceled. People here are afraid of a little cold weather. Its forcast high 30's or low 40's tomorrow night so they canceled the show. Thanks Bob...

If you adjust an ENTIRE scene before auto-splitting, you can not use AUTO-SPLIT. Auto-SPLIT can only be used on the ORIGINAL scene or the first scene appearing in the scene bin after the download.

EX: A 15 minute scene is observed as ONE (1) clip BEFORE auto-splitting

.You decide to increase saturation and apply same to the ENTIRE clip

.The NEW or ADJUSTED clip appears to the RIGHT of the original.

.You can't auto-split the adjusted clip after running any effect through-out that designated clip

Hope this is what you are experiencing.

If you are using HD.....there is another reason it will not auto-split.....that's another lesson.

You probably have the time code setting wrong in System Settings regarding the time code.

As for the color, how you have the analog inputs set have no affect on the firewire input.

Firewire changes nothing in the footage (which is the primary reason to use firewire besides Auto Split) so if your color was good prior to input your color is good after input.

Either your 700 or the one used to playback your editor footage must have color settings incorrect.

Man you guys are double teaming me , I love it. I didn't do any effect on the scene I dumped about 30 minutes of video straight in, which consisted on several different races. The camera was stopped in between each race. I then clicked on split and then auto and it went thru its paces. When it was done it came up with a message that said there was no cut info found. The only option then was to click OK, which I did. The color on the 700 is what I saw when I shot the video. I edit every day with the other monitor and it is good too. How can the time code settings affect what I have here?. Thanks Bob...

What camera or device are you using to play the original tapes into your editor?

Hey Craig, I just got back from town. Had to unload my truck in the rain. I am using the Sony GV-HD700 to input the raw footage into my Rennie. Bob..

Bob - I think Tim nailed your difficulty -- the Time Code settings are how the Casablanca OS reads the index points/marks to initiate the auto-split function. When you are working with HD footage that you are down-converting in the camera (and thereby importing SD footage into your Casablanca) you must make an adjustment. This is detailed on my website in this tutorial: http://www.casablancaexpert.com/articles/20090224

Chet
