Hi,
I am new in this Forum, so excuse me for a very simple question:
A few years ago I bought the Casablanca Avio, Smart Edit 3, 2-nd edition, Pro-Pack and Photo-Studio. The system works great !!!
I am going to upgrade my Casablanca with 300GB hard disk and 252 MB RAM.
Please advise which versions of the Smart Edit would be compatible with my hardware. Any further suggestions?

What is your hard drive size now? From memorie if you want to run a bigger hard drive on that machine you need to have a special software from Macro Systens to do so.
I am running a 250 GB drive on mine and needed that it might not work just swapping them over.

You will need at least SmartEdit V3.1 (The last version was 3.6c) and Avio hard disk upgrade software which is free. You will also need a compatible 256mb PC133 RAM, I find Kingston is compatible (KVR133X64C3. Remember to buy an IDE/PATA hard drive (which are becoming scarce now), we have used up to 400gb. Jumper setting to Master.

Unlike the rest of the platforms the Avio has a ton of empty room inside the compartment that houses the hard drive so I believe you could look into a PATA to SATA adapter and use SATA drives if you cannot find a satisfactory PATA drive.

The Avio was way in my past so I have no hands on experience with this, but believe it would work.

On the black case Avio there is plenty of space for a PATA to SATA adapter. On the Avio DVD with the hard drive mounted in its original bracket, the back of the drive is pretty tight up to the power supply. There seem to be many designs of these adapters but I think a little experimentation and imagination might be required to fit one.

Yep, in an Avio too. Just needed to convert the power leads to fit the 'new' adapter board and it was fine.
