Down Loading DVD to Solitaire for Editing
I've got a DVD+RW and would like to down load some of the video into my Solitaire to edit. How do I do this task?

Re: Down Loading DVD to Solitaire for Editing
It depends on where the contents on the DVD-RW came from Bill.
If from Arabesk you can pop the DVD into the burner and use Ksebara.
This will make a Scene of the entire contents in the Scene bin for you.
If the contents are not from Arabesk it still might work or might give you the video without any audio or not work at all.
Totally depends on the contents.
The alternative would be analog input (preferably YC) by playing the DVD-RW back in a compatible DVD player hooked up to the Solitaire.

Re: Down Loading DVD to Solitaire for Editing
Tim,
The contents (approx. 3 mins.) were converted onto the DVD+RW from a VHS cassette. The cassette came from an old Pana. G456UP camcorder. Generally, I shoot / down load from a Pana. DVX100A camcorder into the Solitaire with wire connected to the front of the Solitaire. Unfortunately, I haven't tried down loading from a DVD+RW.
So, it sounds like Ksebara is needed to down load either from the burner or YC, right?

Re: Down Loading DVD to Solitaire for Editing
Bill,
No, Ksebara is for use with the internal burner only and is a free default software built into the OS.
You would use analog YC in the exact same way you do from the cam, simply connecting a DVD player capable of playing the DVD-RW in place of the cam.
Being VHS footage, I'd just use the analog input method.
Is there a reason you burned it to DVD rather than just a straight VCR to Solitaire analog transfer?

Re: Down Loading DVD to Solitaire for Editing
Ya know, I never thought about going straight from a VCR into the back of the Solitaire. I feel so stupid.. As I said, I always down load video from my DVX100A from the front fire wire port and now that I think of it ,may have entered video from a DVD player via the back panel a very long time ago. I think I remember switching something from front to back etc. but obviously have forgotten. So, I just want to make sure I understand the approach for the connection process..
Connect cables from a VCR to the front of the Solitaire Video IN and left and right Audio IN. I'll use the front since I'm familiar with down loading into the fire wire port etc. So, if I connect conventional auido / video lines into the Audio & Video inputs, will the Solitaire auto configure accordingly? If so, then I assume I just go to VIDEO RECORD as always and proceed from there. Do I have that right?

Bill, you will need to go to Video Settings and change Input to Front CVBS or Front YC if used as Tim suggested.

Bill,
The Solitaire will not auto-connect to analog input.
You will need to manually go into Video Settings and set the Input to the correct setting as Bob mentions.
CVBS/RCA Front for composite or YC/SVHS Front for S-Video.
