s 4000 pro, each time upon powering on or restart, the monitor flashes constantly for about 2 minutes before I can finally start working. I have tried new cables and switching to svhs connection but still the monitor flashes (no dual monitor setup). Analog connection doesn't have this problem. This doesn't happen when i change monitor sources such as pc or tv input. Monitor is a Toshiba.

Sounds like your JVC monitor auto detects the signal input and has a bit of trouble with German. LOL
With a small company like MSDE there is no way for them to test with/against all monitor possibilities, nor are they likely to put much if any R & D in writing code to address any specific model compatibility issue.
Still, posting the specific model number here to avoid would be a service to the users and it would be worthwhile to also report this to MSDE tech support.
Who knows, perhaps they would address it in a future update.

Curious: Can you change the monitor resolution to various display sizes?

My Acer 19" monitor did the same thing. I have a Kron Plus in a two-monitor setup. The tv/monitor would come up fine but the Acer would go through the "hunting" sequence for a while until it settled in.
I solved the problem by leaving the monitor on all the time. It will go into a standby mode when the editor is off. It comes right up with the Smart Edit screen when I power the editor back up. Let us know if it works for you.
