can I export finished video via firewire to dvcpro deck if I brought the footage in via usb avchd? It seems I can only use the dv out option if I brought the footage in on lower quality analog. I am using panasonic 150's that use the sd hc cards. Help!
thank you

I assume you have imported your AVCHD signal into an HD project, right (you'd have to unless you were in PAL and has the Bogart V3 OS).
You can export out DV/firewire but it would be an HDV signal, so you'd have to export to an HDV deck or Camcorder with HDV input setting/s.
If your desire or intention is to export an SD DV signal, you could clipboard from your HD project into an SD project and then export that out via DV but on Bogart V2 you may not be satisfied with the quality. Some folks are exporting HDV to camera, using the camera/deck to down-convert to SD and working with that in an SD project.

Chet

Thanks for reply Chet. Yes I am bringing in footage into hd project and my show is going national on a couple of dish and direct channels. The problem is neither takes sd or blu ray dvd's only dvcpro or betasp. I am once again stuck with my macrosystem editor in that i cant in an efficient and timely way tape out to beta or dvdpro over any high quaility option. The only thing I can think of, and please give me more options that you can think of, is to come into hd project and burn out to sd dvd. I cant get the blu rays to play on anything no matter what authoring option I use. Im using memorex 25gbd-r's and have tried over 10 on several players. anyway....then play sd dvd into dvcpro deck, however I still dont have a high quality option of exporting it into my panasonic af sd 93 unless I can find a dvd player with firewire out. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I picked the wrong editor 11 years ago and have walked down the wrong path with 7 different ms editors... I'm thinking of just going to a pc system and try to learn that since I keep getting put in these corners because of the ms limited input and output options.

If you are having trouble using the Casablance system when editing, you sure are going to go crazy using a PC based system. A lot of people blame the system for their problems, when it's really the operator not understand how the system works. That is why we are blessed to have this forum and people like Chet to help us with our problems. If there is something you don't understand just ask this forum. There are plenty of experts here to help you out.

It is/can be frustrating with all these video formats that are at times incompatible or at the least difficulty to get between each other. I am not blindly defending Casablanca here but believe that there aren't many editors that can export from AVCHD to composite video (though some higher-end systems can likely export via component which would serve you with some of your needs).
Rather that subject your video to the compression that is inherent with the DVD burning process - I would prefer to come out as I suggested before - HDV out and then down-convert in camcorder and use that signal to import into your other decks. There has been lots of communication to the company requesting that the down-convert issue be addressed and when that is, you could down-convert in your Bogart editor and then firewire out to your decks.
Regarding the Blu-ray issue - here is a list I am keeping on my website (in public viewing mode) of Blu-ray players:

AMEN TO THAT RON!
We are VERY lucky to have the HD capability of DIRECT import of ALL types of HD formats into ONE project-mixing and matching. My MFX files from the new CANON camera can even be imported. ONLY AVID can do that according to CANON w/o transcoding files. We have the luxury of NEVER having to convert files like the procedure for FCP and almost ALL programs.
I must also agree with Mr. Pawlak. When I was a MS dealer almost ALL problems were due to USER ERROR. Many were quick to blame the unit when, in fact, it was failure to read the manuals or just plain forgetting procedures.
We are fortunate to have CHET and others to help us out.

Thank you Chet for the info. I guess the other posts think I just started with the ms product and not had 11 years on them. Thanks for reading and responding. May have an s4100 for sale cheap, I'm going back to my solitaire if I have to edit in sd I might as well use all my templates and text archives from the past 6 years.

We know what you mean Lou, but steady or I doubt we will get an 8th.
All joking apart, this is a very friendly site and knowing your real name does help to keep it that way.

Should have added a smiley......that's the problem with postings and e-mails----lack of inflection.
