The NX5U is not a tape camera as you already know. The NX5U delivers AVCHD files. The BEST option for you is to purchase either FAST SONY DUO cards or a lesser priced alternative- SD CARDS. Make sure your SD cards are CLASS 6 and above. Purchase a fast USB card reader. Place the USB cable into your unitfrom the CARD READER and OPEN up a PROJECT designated as HD. Use a card reader instead of the camera's USB jack. Reported sporadic incompatability with other systems when using the USB jack directly from the camera.
This camera has many bit rates. Use the highest setting and inport via the BOGART side into you project. You will not have any problems. The file size is 1920X1080i. However, you can go down to a lesser bit rate such as 25Mps and have HDV quality. That is not a problem as nobody can tell the difference.
NOTE1:The NX cameras are having a problem. it is called a BUFFER-OVERFLOW when using BOTH internal and external drives in tandem. SONY is working on a firmware update. However, be careful not to blame your unit if you have a problem with the card. There are reports of individuals losing their work due to the BUFFER problem
NOTE2: If you are using the new BOGART 3.2C, import your AVCHD files to a designated 1440 project if making an ARABESK 4.9 disc. This saves rendering time.
NOTE#: Go into your PROFILE and raise the COLOR DEPTH to +3....nice DEEP colors.

Can anyone tell me if you can record PCM audio on the NX5
and get both video and audio into Bogart ?
So far the only way I can find is to change the cameras audio to Dolby and then it's fine . . . otherwise you get video but no audio
Also, Lou, can you explain this a bit further please;
