Bogart 3.2 OS No Display

Yesterday I did a full install of Bogart 3.2c on my S4000 Pro deck. After the install there was no display on the HDMI monitor nor the the VGA monitor. Having remembered someone having this problem before, I did a search and found an answer on Chet's website. The solution: attach an analog monitor to the unit and set up the monitors from there to use the VGA/HDMI. I added a monitor using the composite out, nothing. I added another monitor using the S-Video out, nothing. Also, the optical drive tray would not eject as suggested in Chet's solution. I did a "force shut down" and restarted the system. Still no display. I did another "force shut down" and pulled the AC plug for 30 minutes after the power down. Re-booted, still no display. After another "force shut down" I re-booted and pressed the optical drive eject button during startup and finally got it to open. I placed the 3.2c disk in the tray and let it continue to boot. No Display. After another "force shut down", I re-booted with the disc in the tray and the unit displayed the installation questions on both the VGA and the S-video monitors. I aborted the install and the unit shut down automatically. I re-booted and got a display on the VGA monitor. Next, set up the monitors for the HDMI and the VGA. Reloaded the saved HD projects on the S4K pro, played around a little and all is good. This morning I booted the S4K Pro and NO DISPLAY!!! All monitors still attached. I disconnected keyboard and mouse USB cables did a "force shut down" and rebooted. After about a minute, the S4k pro booted and was ready to use. What the &*%&%#$$! Is this process something I'm going to have to do every time I want to use the editor???

Bob,
Sorry to hear of your frustration here --- did you try the 'Emergency Monitor Switch'? This is detailed here:

This is a valuable short-cut, especially after a full install as the monitor output can be changed during installation.
Regards,
Chet

Hi Chet,
The unit was connected to all possible monitor options at the same time. S-video, composite video, VGA and HDMI on 4 different monitors. One of them should have shown something.
A couple of hours age, I turn the S4K off normally after using it for an hour or so and tried to restart it. The front panel lit briefly and then went dark. I let it cool down for a couple of hours and tried again. Nothing. No indication of any efforts to boot. I changed power cords from a known to work unit plugged into the same UPS as the S4k Pro. Nothing.
It had been working on the OS 2,7 without problems other than the normal ones complained about by many, although I rarely used it and do most of my "day jobs to pay the bills" using Prestige and Renomee Plus units.

Follow Up:
Since my last post, I disconnected everything from the back of the S4k pro including the power cord. I reconnected the power cord and pressed the power button. The unit powered up. I connected the VGA, HDMI, keyboard, and mouse cables. The unit has worked so far. I powered down and restarted twice without problems. Perhaps the S4k does not like more than one video monitor connected at a time. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

One of my Bogart systems does not boot when a USB thumbdrive has been inserted to any of the USB ports. The other system does not care for this. It will boot all the time. Strange, isn't it?

Oh, early versions of a new generation MS machine has always been "interesting times".
As long as your business remains standard definition I would not change as the increased speed and capabilities do not outweigh the downsides of less available software and higher weirdness.
That said, for those who are using today's formats for acquisition and editing (HDV/AVCHD), it doesn't really matter if the gen two machines are stabler or not as they simply cannot do the job.

Good luck NTSC Bogart 3.2 users hopefully you have more luck with then me with it.
Just downgrated to 2.4 for the 4th time as I could not get a DVD properly burned on this version.
I recieved them back as there were glitches and freezes in it.
Arabesk needed 5 times to burn a disc and then it didn't want to go again.( burned a faulty one anyway)
Also could I could not open the disc tray from Arabesk had to go to the audio record menu to open it up.
Please report these bugs if they accur so they might fix them for all of us.
I stay on 2.4 for now as it it winter here and work has slowed down.
Please be aware this OS splits up long recordings (eg;Ceremony, speeches) for NO reason no good
if you try to use the Quadcam software. I have reported this but I seem to be the only one so far.

In PAL we are experiencing many similar problems since 3.1 release.
That was 1 Feb,2010
Now in 3,2 there have been some fixes but also new problems.
The combination of 3.2c and Arabesk 4.9 is a real "DROSS"
All those problems have been reported but different replies came to same problem.
"At the time we can't confirm your problem"
"Some users have reported the same, we submitted to devellopping team for clearance"
MS should not release 3.2c NTSC since it obviously is "mirroring" the PAL problems.
But I think they need some more unpaid beta testers in the NTSC user community...
As they do with PAL...
Better no further comment from my side...
