JP,
I am operating on Bogart V3.2C so I cannot verify my experience will be equivalent to yours... but I just tried the Normalize function (part of Audio Effects Pack) and was successful in the Audio Mix menu, which is where I gather you have tried it as well with the undesired result. Have you also tried adding the effect in the Audio Record, Edit menu? Not saying this will work for certain but something to try... use Scene>Sample of the particular scene and then apply the effect in the Audio Record, Edit menu to see if it works there. If it does, you can add that new audio sample beneath the original in the Audio Mix menu and then mute the original.
Regards,
Chet

Maybe the harddrive is completely full ?!
Does this happen with all the audio samples or just with one?
