MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
I barely have SE9 in, and have noticed a MAJOR change in the screen- they got rid of that *&%# time box that was always in the way of seeing the project! Thanks for listening, Macrosystem!

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
Keep us posted Jim I am thinking about upgrading to V9. I am still working on 7 and I am not having any real problems. Bob...

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
The biggest problem, Bob, is in how they show the "improvements". I got a supplement with the disc that showed a lot of windows and such that I did not see in SE9. Same thing in Chet's webinar this week. Not much said about how the screens should look in SE9, mainly Bogart. I don't have a multi-row of scenes in my scene bin, only what I've always seen, one row of scenes. They make SO MUCH of the improvements to Bogart and its new screens, I have no idea what I am supposed to be seeing on my editor, or have gotten with SE9. Supplement was nearly useless for this reason. I HOPE somebody in charge is noticing this, as I am a bit disappointed. True, the sound tracks do show their levels beneath the scenes in mix window. But they claim some things as new with 9 that I have with SE7.

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
In fact, it would be helpful if someone was to point out the specific improvements to SE9 exclusively, without confusing the issue by combining with Bogart advances. I am quite sure there are a number of improvements to 9, but I am not sure what the new screens are supposed to look like and how the software is supposed to behave!

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
Hello Jim,
I would invite you to check out the MSUS webpage here: http://www.macrosystem.us/index.php?pr=SmartEdit9 . This provides you with the new functions in Smart Edit 9 (so as to avoid throwing it in with any new functions in Bogart 3).
Regarding the changes in the Audio Mix menu (and the multiple row scene bin in the Edit Menu) - which you indicated you reviewed in my Webinar from earlier this week - are only view-able when using a higher resolution monitor setting. For Smart Edit that would be a VGA monitor in either a dual-monitor (my recommendation) or a single monitor VGA set-up.
I believe I made that distinction in the Webinar - that's why I showed the 'regular' or low-resolution monitor functions first, and then during the Webinar you see me switch to the DVI setting (for you the VGA setting) to access the additional audio mix functions in Smart Edit 9.
P.S. I am guessing here - but the 'annoying' counter display you talked about sounds like it is the counter that you can disable in the 'Presentation Options' menu.
Hope that helps!
Regards,
Chet

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
I can run a VGA connection from the Ren to a monitor, but I don't know how to get the Renomee adjusted to that while still on the other monitor. I hooked up the VGA line, and need steps to get this work on that basis. Thanks! I hooked up the VGA, and unhooked the S line, but don't know how to get the Ren to feed a signal from its VGA connection. Also, how does audio work in that arrangement? Go thru the VGA, or the audio lines, like is already hooked up?

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
I only have one VGA plug on the Ren, so is the other monitor feeding out of the S line?

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
Jim,
In System Settings - under 'Screens' you select the VGA monitor for your menu (Screen 1) and your video monitor for your video display. Audio feeds out the same RCA/Phono jacks to your TV monitor (or external speaker).
I have a short video tutorial on using a higher res monitor with your Casablanca available in the Members Area of my website here: http://www.casablancaexpert.com/articles/20090812.
Also, this info is found on page 35-36 of the Smart Edit 7 Manual which you can download here: http://www.macrosystem.de/downloads/SMARTEDIT7_en.zip ( I know we're talking about Smart Edit 9, but this manual is the most updated complete manual on all these functions - SE8 and SE9 Manual only contain info on the new features for those OS versions).
Regards,
Chet

Re: MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!
Chet,
As I said earlier on another post, I usually post a question here, and then go figuring out how its done on my own. Hooked up this monitor (computer, 19" Dynex) into VGA on the Ren, then left the other monitor also connected via S and audio lines. Then went and found a res level (1024) that would work and give me the same pics I saw on your webinar. Worked out very well, with the big screen for presentation, and small one for detail work. Question- what are the various frequencies about? I see 1024 @ 60, 70, and 75 mhz.
