Bill,

Chet or Lou would be better regarding this as I stayed with tape and firewire, but you can use USB for input I believe with your S4000Pro.

At the backsite of your Casa 4000Pro you will find several USB inputs to connect your camcorder.Succes with greetings from Holland.

Is there an adapter to firewire?
Even if there were an adapter to allow the connector to mate, I do not believe that would work as USB and Firewire convey different types of video file formats. Firewire is 'looking' for/conveys either DV or HDV signals. On the proliferation of new camcorders, the USB connection is used to transport/import other file formats like AVCHD.

As another list member suggested, you _can_ very likely import the video from your camcorder via the USB port. Make certain that you have the settings in the Project Settings menu set to the exact settings you recorded the video with.

Hope that helps!

Regards,
Chet

Firewire transfers HDV files and DV25. HDMI is for viewing only. Though, there are video cards that will allow transfer via HDMI by Black Magic design for PC.

However, you could use the analog OUT of the camera albeit SD quality. You will have to use the cables that adapt to the camera.

CAUTION when attaching Firewire...There have been instances when units end up fried when connecting live. Power down first and avoid having a bad day.
