PIP 3D

In this program, is it necessary to have a way point near the end point to make the picture sit still, and not fade out at the end? I am going to start pictures from various points on a map, and have them Z up to full frame in 2-3 seconds, and want the PIP to stay put. BTW, did make this happen very nicely in 3D Titles, client liked the idea very much! The country names Z'd up good and large, and stayed there. It was cool to see!

With Deluxe Titler 3D, there is an automatic fade at the end, which is annoying if you want the title to remain the full length of the scene. I would definitely prefere to determin a fade or no fade.
Both with PIP-Studio and PIP-Studio 3D there is no fade, but as you say if you are zooming in, the scene ends at the point where the PIP has just got to full size.
This is not a problem if the scenes are stills, all you need to do after creating is to take the scene, trim it “IN” to the last frame, make a still scene of the last frame for what ever duration you require, reset the original scene from last frame back to normal length and add the still to the end of this scene.
You will now have a scene with a zooming PIP, that stays at the final size for the duration of the time you made the still scene.
However, if either the background or the PIP are video scenes, you cannot do this if you want them to remain video scenes during the final stage.
With all three of the above programs, when you set a number of way points, the time is shared equally between each way point. e.g. If you have a 10s scene with 10 way points, it will take 1s to go from point 1 to point 2 etc.
Therefore if you want the PIP to stay full size at the end for say 3s, way points 8. 9 and the final 10, will all need to be the same size ( the Z factor the same) and in the final position the same. In other words all way 3 points on to of each other.

They are stills, Ian. I just make scenes of them set to the length I need them to be. I have noticed that something in Ren is trimming 1:40 off the created scene, once it is moved to the scene bin. I set the create scene time at a certain length in PS2, and it delivers it to the scene bin that much shorter. What's up with that?

What Chet taught in his webinar on this was right on. I needed at least one way point near, or at the end, to make the title park itself there. Then, once the PIP is over, I quit that scene, and move on to the next, which could be the same pic, as a longer scene. PIP just gets it on the screen, and leaves it.

As to your short created scene issue, I’m not sure. I’ll give it some thought.
As I said earlier, if your scene and PIP are stills, the easiest way, is to do a normal PIP movement/zoom and not bother putting extra way points at the end. Then after you have created the PIP scene, use the trim “IN” scroll it all the way to the right and hit OK. You will now have a one frame scene of the end of your PIP scene.
Use “Special” – “Still scene” to make a still of whatever duration you require to the last frame of your scene, go back and un-trim your PIP scene and “Add” this to the story board, followed by the still.
