Hi Bob

Does your Avio have fire wire?
It looks that this one records in HDV this can't be imported in your Avio.
Only if it can record in DV and you have fire wire don't know if it works down converting.
Please check if you can export your footage out of the camera by fire wire because that
is very important these days when buying a new camera.
Many Cassablanca users buy a camera first and then realize that they can't import the footage
in there machine and have to work arround to get it to import.
Hope this helps.

Since you have an AVIO listed, I would skip this camera and look at the CANON HV-30/40. This will be the last firewire camera to be produced by Canon.

The XR has a 240-50G HD and uses AVCHD which can not be imported into the AVIO, except by RCA inputs like a 1990's camera. I don't trust Hard Drive camera as they are mechanical and do not function in high altitudes. The CX series use flash.

I have a CX 150 model. The small brother of the CX 550. AVCHD imports fine in Bogart.

BTW: If you really need a good used camera, I have a Canon HV-20 which utilizes firewire and works with any firewire port. Contact me off line: Gocycle@optonline.net It is a camera I gave my son but he never used it much.

Hey guys he has an AVIO. No need to discuss a Bogart system to solve his problem. That won't help him with an AVIO and a smart Edit operating system. Since many AVIOs don't have a firewire input...that has to be the question we ask of him. Find that out and we can make better solutions and answers for him.

Good point Jim. My first Avio did not have firewire. If I recall, there was an upgrade to the AVIO, where it had to be sent to Boulder.

If there is no firewire import then he will have to follow my other suggestion and use the RCA inputs. If that is the case, no need to purchase the RX series or any HD series. The camera would be "overkill"if it can't be used except via analog inputs.

Thanks for the info. The unit was sent to Boulder for upgrade when I first got it. Been a long time. Sony says camcorder does not have firewire output.
