Bringing an Avio Up to Date

Post by cmhinkle »

I acquired a Casablanca Avio editor in 2002. I am a casual user and have not worked on the unit for a few years. I would like to know what upgrades/additions I can/should make to make this unit as current as possible. Thanks.

Wow, 2002 means it definitely could use an Operating System upgrade as you have to be at least eight or so versions out of date.

I am pretty sure that you could add ram and with a more current OS and possibly some additional software if you don't have the "Pro" software you could add a larger hard drive.

Whether you need any of those things depends on how you use the machine and even with all of them your machine is extremely outdated, not compatible with the required USB2 input of newer solid state cams and woefully underpowered for HD footage editing.

Your best bet would be to connect with your local dealer regarding any and all of this if there is a trustworthy one in your area or one of the major national trustworthy ones if not.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.
