S-2000 are a disc burning nightmare

I have Four S2000's for a school and they never seems to burn DVD-R discs consistantly. Sometimes they burn and many times they fail.
The discs then won't eject from Arabesk and have to go to Audio recording to eject them. Sometimes they still won't eject and have to hook up the monitor with a flash drive and do a emergency boot eject. What a pain........

I have reinstalled OS software, Arabesk, tried different write speeds, different brands of DVD's.
Needless to say, I'm out of options to try. The only discs that they do seem to like are DVD+RW.

My only thought now is that the firmware is not correct.
HL-DT-STDVDRAM GH22NS50 (What brand is this? )
Firmware is TN02

I have one other S-2000 that has a pioneer DVD-RW DVR-218L with Firmware version 1.02 - This machine has some burning problems with Verifiying the discs.

How do you know if you have the correct firmware for the DVD drive? I can't seem to find out that information online.

My machines are running
Bogart 3.2
Arabesk 4.9 ( i have tried running 4.6 with no luck also)

Any Ideas out there what to try?

I'm beginning to think that these machines are a bunch of lemons and that is why they are coming out with new machines. There are a lot of bugs that need to be fixed in the disc burning area.

Hi,
you got the correct firmware. :D
But see for yourself.

Additional please try a new full destructive installation
of Bogart 3.2 on one of your S-2000 and see if the problem is still existing. :?:

Here is another idea that may or may not address the issue you expressed - I posted this on my CasablancaExpert Blog earlier this week: DVD Burning Dilemma Solved!

Hope that helps!

if it works, it's OK :D
But very mysterious

Does it matter (after inserting the blank DVD as Chet suggested) if you go by the route of "Create DVD" under the Film List prompt or go directly to "Write DVD" on the main Arabesk screen. It seemed to have worked successfully on both but perhaps with a slight delay on one.

Did you upgrade the OS from 2.X to 3? If so....sometimes if the burner is not a SATA drive....the OS upon install will mess around with the firm ware and produce problems like you have. Have you contacted your local dealer about this?

Hi Coach

I haven't had success burning DVD's when I was using Bogart 3.2 something.
I was sick of testing for FREE so I went back to Bogart 2.4 and every disk burns first time
with not one failure to date.( done 20 burned projects so far)

I have had the same problem ejecting discs and many times dropped frame issues aswell.
Got on to MS germany and they told me to not reuse tapes but the funny thing was after
reinstalling 2.4 there where NO dropped frames and everything worked fine.
The small audio improvements they made on 3.2 didn't make up the time I spend on
fixing the project.

PS. I'm working in DV
