Output for S3000

Our school recently purchased a S3000 to replace our editing system. Our school is using analog signal to broadcast our morning news show.

The S3000 only has DV output so I'm using the Canopus ADVC 110 converter to convert the signal to analog. However, the video quality is very poor-audio quality is good. A step down from what we had before.

Is there a setting on the S3000 that might improve the output video or might I need a better converter or is this something that cannot be improved upon.

any advice is appreciated.

fyi: the video input is analog, not digital.

There are 5 colorized round connectors.
I know the green one supplies analog audio stereo.
Maybe one of those also supplies analog video?
Have a look in the manual or contact MS/US for more details.

There is no analogue out (video) on the S3000/6000 series - I suppose as most TV's have HDMI/DVI it was thought to be no longer required.

How 'good' is the picture from the Canopus if you connect another DV source, like a camcorder ?

Hi Michael,
how do you know?
You have a 3000/6000?
If it has an analogue audio why shouldn't it also have a video out?
What then are all the connectors for?

Hi Hans,

Yes I have an S6000 here (at the moment).
If it has an analogue audio why shouldn't it also have a video out?
Good question - one to which I have no answer . . .
What then are all the connectors for?
Like on the Solitaire (etc) these are part of the PC mother board as standard issue.
Originally we didn't have 'mic in' either - until they connected the pink one via software.
