I have a client with a nice SD produced motion graphic logo he wants me to use in a very short HD project. Will the Cassie upscale the SD to HD?

Bogart will. And with graphics/backgrounds, the 16:9 upconvert to a HD project works well.

In Bogart, set your 16:9 project to SD. Enter your graphic.

Go to your HD project and use your clipboard.

The newer releases of Bogart allow conversion directly from your flash media to a HD project as it will upscale via the BOGART RECORD window.

I see you have a SOLITAIRE: Will not upscale. Been awhile since I owned the trusty SOLITAIRE. SO...............I think, even if you change the graphic to 1920 X 1440 in PC softwares, it will be upscaled as SD and will LACK the GOPS needed to turn the file to HDV thus firewire will not work in the HDV project. Hope I am wrong here.

Hi,
I'm not working with Smart Edit anymore...but...I'm 90% sure it will upscale your sequence.
Import your sequence in an SD project and then open a new project with HD settings.
From the HD project, click on the archive button, select "add scene from another project", confirm your choice and click on import scene. That's it...it will render your SD scene in HD...
I did that a few times before upgrading my Solitaire.
Cheers.

A a Casablanca Expert member, Chet sent out an e-mail in regards to HD and SD in Smart Edit this morning to his members. Having not worked with SE for several years, Chet reminded us of the procedure to mix HD and SD in a Smart Edit (not Bogart) setting. Always good to have a refresher course.
