Using insert audio and seperate issue: HD backup

I was trying to back up a project onto my LaCie external hard drive and seemed to have accidently started a Hard-Drive backup and don't know how to stop it. Will the Hard-drive back up take up a lot of space on the Reno, and how do I back up a project onto the external LaCie? I initially clicked on Backup/restore archives, and followed commands to save the project, but it did it so fast, it did not seem like it saved it?

Issue 2: How can I use inserts over background video (an interview) and keep a little of the insert audio (horses clomping on pavement, horseriders ya-hooing) playing in the bacground of interview?

Can't help you with Issue 1.

For Issue 2, Create an audio sample of the background video clip using Scene>Sample. Go to the Audio Mix screen and add the sample you just created to an empty track. Adjust the volume of this track (ambient sound) as needed, probably keeping it low most of the time.

Hello Kim,

The System Archives does not take long, so my guess is that is was a successful process for you. The answer for your HD Backup depends on the system/software you have & are using. Since you indicate you have a Renommee you are using Storyboard Archives, unless you have the dedicated internal backup HDD (2nd internal HDD). It is only the Bogart OS systems (except Solitaire that came with the dedicated internal HD backup) with the add-on software called Bogart HD Backup that have the capacity to do a back-up of the entire HardDrive.

Regarding your Insert question - the video you insert will be without audio, you will need to use Scene>Sample found in the Special menu of the Edit Screen to extract/copy the audio from your interview and lay that down under the Interviewee in the Audio Mix menu... the background audio (horses clip-clopping) will come through automatically, in fact you may have to/want to diminish their volume during the interview.

Yeah, I have added background audio from insert using the procedure you both cited. I was hoping there was another way!

Regarding my question recently about exporting Power Point into jpgs for 200+ slides, what a project! Never could get the jaggedly text to smooth out or become more clear no matter what exporting I did.

Soooooo, I caved in and purchased a little $30 add on for Power Point. Got it from Power Point website called PP Tools and the product is called Image Exporter, it downloads directly into Power Point. The guy who created the add-on says the problem is only getting worse, started with Power Point 2003 and in 2010 is worse.
