encoding in 16x9

I just shot my first project in true 16x9. I want to upload it to youtube. What software do you all use to encode in 16x9? With 4x3, I was making an avi file with windows movie maker and the using riva flash encoder to create a flash file. I do not see a setting in WMM for 16x9. I can only get it to output from the rene+ in 4x3. I have the setting set to 16x9 anamorphic.
Any suggestions? I believe squeeze does it, but that is out of my budget.
Thanks!

Lou,
I know you post videos in 16x9. How are you encoding them? Since I have the rene+, how can I capture them to my pc in 16x9?

Jeff,

In my case, I wanted to put HDV onto YouTube, and the Casablanca Expert, Chet Davis gave me the following instructions, which may also apply to your situation :

To make a video 720p widescreen HD using Windows Movie Maker, follow these steps.
First, go to Tools/Options in Windows Movie Maker. Click the "Advanced" tab at the top.
Now find "16:9" under the "Video Properties" section. Click on it. Now your view will be in 16:9 widescreen. But that's not all!
Finish your movie. When it is time to publish, click "Publish to... This computer". Name your movie and set the destination. Click "Next".
Now click "More Settings" and in the drop-down list next to it, click "Windows Media HD 720p". Click on this. Now click Publish.

Hope that helps!

Regards,
Chet

Jeff,

Your movie has to be in the WMM Timeline.

Then, at the top left of the page, go to File, and Publish Movie.

Jeff,

Did you click on File at the top left of the WMM page.

If you did, you should be able to scroll down till you come to "Publish Movie."

Lou,
Doesn't work in win XP.

Yenny,
I am clicking on the word "file" in the top left to bring down the drop down menu. No Publish option.

Perhaps you have a different version of Windows from me. I'm using Windows Vista, Home Premium.
What version are you using ?
I'm just guessing, but maybe earlier versions don't allow publishing a movie.
Maybe someone else on this group would know.
Sorry, I can't be of more help, Jeff.
