Screwed up Reno Plus
I think I may have screwed up one of my Reno Plus Units. I use the 2 monitor screens for editing in the studio, but switch to "video" only when using the hard drive in a Prestige in the field with no VGA monitor. Today, I switched over one hd to "video" and pulled the hd to change over the 2nd hd to "video". When I went to insert the 2nd hd, I noticed that the Reno Plus was still on. AAAAAARG. I had removed the 1st hd with the Reno+ still on.I did a forced shut down and installed the 2nd hd. After pressing the power button, the VGA monitor went thru a series of activity as usual and then went to black. The video monitor stayed black and nothing more happened. After a few minutes waiting, I again did a forced shut down and checked the hd on a second Reno Plus editor. Everything worked as it should. I reset the monitors to 2 monitors and tried in Reno Plus 1 again. Nothing again. I unplugged Reno Plus 1 for about half an hour and again nothing but black screens. I opened the disc tray and placed a Reno Plus OS disc and rebooted the unit. The Reno + 1 booted to a language screen. I chose English and the screen came back "No hard drive detected. Remove the CD". I did and the unit went back to all black screens. I tried this procedure on two more known good hard drives with the same results. I checked to interior hd pin connector and all are straight with none missing. Any suggestions other than a trip to Colorado???

Re: Screwed up Reno Plus
It's hard to be sure I followed all of that, but are you saying any hard drive you put into the Reno Plus it doesn't work?
Did you try putting the first hard drive (the one you pulled while the unit was on) back in and see what happens?
Did you do this with it in the Video mode or only after switching it back to two monitor mode in the other Reno Plus?
I'd definitely try putting the original drive (first switch it to Video mode) in the problem Reno Plus and see what happens.
You have the problem Reno Plus hooked up to monitors in such a way it would show on the monitor with it being in one monitor mode as well as two monitor mode?
Other than that I'd disconnect the problem Reno Plus completely overnight (all connections: USB, firewire, PS2, monitor, etc.) and then start hooking up the minimum to check it, trackball, monitor and see what happens.

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Thanks for your resonse TimTimKennelly wrote:It's hard to be sure I followed all of that, but are you saying any hard drive you put into the Reno Plus it doesn't work?
That is correct Tim.
Did you try putting the first hard drive (the one you pulled while the unit was on) back in and see what happens?
Yes. When I boot the Reno , the VGA goes thru a series of logos and text messages as usual and then goes blank. The video monitor stays blank.
Did you do this with it in the Video mode or only after switching it back to two monitor mode in the other Reno Plus?
Both.
I'd definitely try putting the original drive (first switch it to Video mode) in the problem Reno Plus and see what happens.
Did that also.

Did that last night with no change this morning
