Hi, Does anyone know if Western Digital HDDs are compatable with the Prestige. The last time I checked MSUS recommended against using them. If anyone has used them are there any problems and what Model have you used.
Thanx,
Bill Roth

I use the WD 320gb drives exclusively. Currently have 5 sleds with them. No problems in the last 4 or 5 years other than the usual requirement to replace them after significant use. They are difficult to find in the PATA design. The last 2 new ones I purchased a month ago were on ebay. Model WD3200AAJB.

In the UK WD seem to be the only PATA hd's available. As originally they were not recommended by MS I checked with MSDE if this was still the case. Their response was that no problems were now being reported. In fact SATA WD drives are used in the S range. NB their jumper settings are different to most other brands and not immediately obvious.
