flash drive and Renommee

I had a customer bring me a flash drive that has video on it that they want me to include in a production I am doing for them. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it in the Rennie. Does anyone have any idea if its even possible? I also have a dvd that the same customer brought me and I put into the Renommee using Ksebara. IT went in but when I tried to use it there was no audio. I put it in another dvd player and I had to hit play to get it to play the audio. Any suggestions about that?

The Reno' won't/can't accept video via the USB socket - stick or otherwise.

This is "normal" in Ksebara for non-Arabesk produced DVD's.

This is getting more common. Clients using flash media to give to editors. Can they put the material on tape for you?

can you get the flash drive to upload on your pc (how much vid is on the flash drive?) , upload to windows movie maker or some other pc based video software,then I would output back onto a mini dv via your cam, then you can firewire back into reommee. I use renomee so this is how I would do it.

I would suggest moving the video over to a DVD-rw disk and moving it in that way. The Ren won't take video any way but through its tray, but you can save some money using RW's instead of just DVD=R's. Don't know how many re-record's they can take before they quit, but there's bound to be some usefulness to this technique.

Thanks guys. I will try to remember those things a try them next jim. I had to have the piece done and I ended up using what I had shot off the overhead and it wasn't bad. I never thought about putting it in to windows movie maker. I had another cust today that has some video on an SD card. Will the PC do the same thing with it? Thanks Bob...

It is going to be more common that people give there footage on a card or stick
as that's where they capture there video on and aren't capable to work out to burn it to a disc.
I peronaly have never used any one's own footage in a production as it most likely degrades the
the production if the footage is shaky,dark or unsharp and my company name is on the disc.

For me editing some one else there footage will take me a lot longer in editing time than editing my own.
I edit in camera and only push the start button when I have framed the scene to my satisfaction and that is
why use over 95% of the footage I shoot. I also think how I am going to edit the footage by shooting a close up
than a wide shot a close up again than some thing else and than back to the main subject.
This way of filming I will have most of the scenes in order for post production.

Editing time will be kept to a minimum and the less time I spend editing the more time I have for other things in life.

Thats what I do. I edit in the camera as much as I can. I also shoot in sequence as to how I am going to edit. When I go on a shoot I form an idea what I want based on my experience and what the client requires. I almost always include stills in my productions and I shoot hem as I visualize needing. A fair amount of my business includes my customers video. I don't encourage that but if thats what they want thats what I do. I have actually edited customers video and not shot a thing on that job. I do note in the credits or some where that the footage was provided by the client. You are right about the way we are going to get video from customers. I don't think consumer cameras will shoot with tape very much longer. I shot a nursery yesterday and that was a colture shock for me. The stuff I shoot are usually going a lot faster. Do you use PIP Studio? I have never really used it and I tried today but it told mme I needed to insert the pip studio operator in the story board. What is this operator and how do I insert kit?
