Anyone remember backing up their Kron projects?

I posted a question about the reliability of the new Casablancas because I've burned out on how often my Kron crashes.

I hardly ever use the thing anymore because of my bad experiences with it ... and now I need to choose a new editing system, either MS or Mac based, because I'm getting into a new line of work that will require I make videos.

Before I do though ... I remember that just before I gave up on my Kron a few years ago, I updated the OS to 6.2d which was the latest version at the time. The big attraction there (as best as I can remember ... my memory is fuzzy here) was that the latest OS would allow for some kind of external data backup.

I never did use the Kron again regularly despite getting the new OS because 1) I had already been burned out with all the crashing and project losses and 2) I vaguely remember that I posted something about this new OS on the forum and someone replied something about how it's not what you think ... you can't really back up a project ... you can only backup just your clips (or something like that) ... and how it's still not a real backup system.

Does anyone remember their old Krons well enough to know what I might be talking about and whether or not I'm mistaken?

I could get excited about taking the Kron back out of mothballs if that latest OS which I never explored or used did allow for real "mirror" backups.

Does anyone remember what the deal was with 6.2d ? ... what it did or didn't do?

Testing memory now  that hurts . . . :D

The back-up that came with Smart Edit, and yes I think it was v6, was project based and involved CD/DVD or Fire Wire hard drives.
The latter often had trouble pairing with machines, even after a successful back-up, and the former were too small in capacity.

There was/is also an HD Back-up software package that will do mirror HDD back-ups for Kron/Prestige/Renommee/Gymnos involving an 'extra' internal hard drive needing to be fitted - like in the Solitaire. I had one in my Prestige but didn't find it too useful as I had 4 caddy drives and only one internal back-up drive.
