Hello Ron,

If you search for Video Spokesperson you will see a number of providers who offer their talent in a Flash overlay for a website. This uses Adobe Flash Player to superimpose the subject in an auto-play mode on any website.

I have thought about doing this myself, using Casablanca blue-box to super over a website background but it would not be identical in the effect. I am not aware of any way to do this with only your Casablanca but maybe your post will get our community thinking of some cool ideas to replicate the effect.

If the "spokesperson" can be put on a layer (maybe CB paint ? ? ?) can that individual layer be recorded out as an AVI file?

Not sure how easy or difficult or to what quality CBP does with moving objects filmed with green screen?

I can encode the AVI file as a flash file (Any Video Converter). Then the web master can probably size and place the FLV file in the appropritate place.

CB PAINT 2 has THE BEST green screen capability as this is a real professional piece of software especially when honing in on the SPILL feature.

However, you will probably have to rotoscope the speaker/talent instead.


What you will have to do is take your TALENT and rotoscope via keypoints that person talking. Once isolated, you can add another layer of the color GREEN....much like a PIP, with your talent in the foreground. From there you can ADD a background of your choice.

You may also choose to rotoscope your talent and then place that talent with a WHITE background. Your webmaster can then blend the scene to a white portion (via HTML CODE) of your website so as only the talent will be observed sans a background. The process for rotoscoping in CB PAINT 2 is tedious and time-consuming...very tedious.


As far as converting to AVI. You could try disc transfer in the Solitaire....don't know if that would work as it is not a HD codec but probably MPEG-2 in some form. AVI files are usually wrappers or containers which can include .mp4 files and different codecs etc.

BTW: BOGART 4 will allow direct access via the SCENE BIN to EXPORT AVI files (.MP4 contained within) at slightly faster than real time.

As we all know, the cassie's green screen effect really stinks. I have had a editing friend tell me for over a year to purchase pinnacle. He said it would be the best $60 I ever spent. Well, after being frustrated with the limitations of the cassie and the high price of a new system, I took his advice. Let me tell you, he was right. For $60, I have an editing system that is doing everything that the rene+ does for me and more. It also does an awesome job with green screen!
It will import any file, including HD. It also outputs to just about any file you would want. This is just the bottom of the line software. If you want fancier fonts and other features, that software is about $100 each. But for right now, I am editing big time projects on a $60 edit system. Something worth looking into, as my buddy had been telling me for over a year.

I am not aware of the capability in the Casablanca to export only the one layer. As Lou mentioned, CB Paint 2 does have significant options regarding chroma keying and roto-scoping, but I do not believe you can then export out that one layer with the alpha-channel intact (transparency).

If you wish to keep the project production on your Casablanca, I think performing a green-screen effect and then embedding that finished video onto a website as an embedded video may be your answer. That precludes you from having the talent hover over the other website content as in the links you find at many websites online using this virtual spokesperson effect -- but you can still achieve a similar outcome with your website visitors if your crafty with your backgrounds in the video (what you choose to key over in the BG).

I don't know if you have Blue-Box World or just the standard Blu-Box ( not as good) effect but I have had great success with Blu-Box world green screen effects in HD using my S-4100. The Manfrotto 504 HD promo video has alot of this for examples and the College Promo video (both on the MS website). The scrolling PIP effect at the end of the College promo video has alot of green screen work as well. All done with BB World.

I have both. BBW is quite bad compared to most other chroma key programs I have used. Once again, the $60 pinnacle chroma key blows BBW out of the water.
BTW, I just imported an avchd file today with pinnacle and edited with no problem. While I have been loyal to MS, I have to ask, why does MS charge so much for software that is far less superior
