Problem exporting to tape

Wow, frustrating problem here. I'll try to make this as clear as possible- using an S4000 Pro. DV video. Exported to DVD and played back with no issues. Can play storyboard on unit w/ no issues. When archiving to DV tape, I get occassion al glitches in the same spots. Exporting to Canon HV40 camcorder. Tried different miniDv tapes and different firewire cords. Same problems at the same spots. I played teh tape back on the camcorder and still glitches at same spots. I loaded THAT footage into the S4000 just to see if they were still present. they were. Then I went frame by frame to see the nature of teh glitch. Interesting what was occuring. As the transition from one scene to the next occurered (and this si where the glitches seem to occur most), as one scene fades out and teh new one fades in, there are quick flashes back to the prior scene just transferred from. Hard to explain in words but basically as teh first scene is transitioned to the next scene, that next scene is intterrupted by occassional frames from the prior scene. And problem is sporadic with no obvious pattern. Strange. And annoying. I cant clear away this footage until I find a way to get it to tape.

OK, tried one last thing- for the glitchy (as previously described) footage I exported to tape and loaded back into the S4000, I used quickmotion effect (level 2) and then exported THAT to tape. No glitches occured in the spots where they did before. I then loaded that quick footage back to the S4000 and then used slomo effect to bring it back to regular speed and played on S4000- no glitches. Huh?!? Very confused and this may be a solution though it seems real half-___. And the follow-up question is would this be a problem - quality0-wise- to export sped up footage like that knowing that if I needed it again in teh future I could load back to the S4000 and use slomo effect to bring it to regular speed? Quality-wise does that compromise the footage at all?

Such a strange problem. And feedback is very much appreciated.
