HD cam and S2000 not connecting. Am I missing something?

My new Panasonic HDC-SD800 and my S2000 (Bogart V3.2) will not input/record via the cam's USB cable and a card reader. After confirming that indeed the cam had recorded footage, I first tried to input the cams 1080/60p with editor's project settings to 1080 progressive. Click on record window's USB red button and the only connection is showing the cams ID correctly. Click on "display content" and nothing. After deleting card's 1080p footage I shot some AVCHD 1080i footage (project setting to 1080i) and same failed result. Doesn't input into media mgr either (get an "internal error"msg). I purchased an SD card reader and tried my AVCHD footage both in record window and media mgr and same result = correct cam ID info but will not input/record. I also tried changing the project setting to include all the project settings available and each trial failed to input. Could I be missing something? (btw - I only recorded a couple mins of footage in both trials. Problem there?) I like the cam's features but I'm ready to return it. MSUS's recommended cam list includes the Sony HDR-CX 150. The 2011 model is now 160 with a 1080/60p option added. I want to make HD 1080 programs - prefer 1080p but 1080i is ok. Anyone have the new 160 model? Will the BogartV4.1 make any difference in the 1080p (or i) recording options? Lou Bruno says in 720 V4 works (but not in V3) - but 720 is not ok with me. HELP! thanks

Something is NOT right here. You should be getting AVCHD file ingested w/o a problem. The 720P @ 60fps works in BOGART 4 as does 720 @30fps. The 60fps progressive was an issue for me in Bogart 3.
Advice: Borrow a friends AVCHD camera and isolate the issue. You may even find on-line AVCHD files to download to a USB stick on some video sites. That is how I tested .MXF files prior to my Canon XF purchase. I tested compatability.

thanks Lou! Seems you and I are narrowing this prob down to compatibility. Yesterday I tested this prob on a friend's Bogart V4 and got the same failed to record result in AVCHD both via a USB cable and an SD card reader. Q: being new to SD card cams - in the editor's record window, after clicking on the red button with the USB symbol what should I expect to see on the page that opens?? I see the correct ID of the cam - or card - but nothing else is displayed. Clicking on "display contents" gets nothing/no change. Could I be missing a step in the record process? I'm getting very close to returning the cam to Panasonic. thanks so much!

You may not be waiting long enough to see any results. With these file based ingests, it has to download the whole list of scenes and if you give up without giving it enough time to transfer the scenes, you will think nothing is happening.
Do you see any files or names of scenes showing? it may take a couple of minutes to get the list of files populated to the point where the list of scenes actually shows up on the screen. Then to actually transfer them into your Cassie hard drive may take a lot of time depending on how long your scenes are. The transfer is faster than real time, but it certainly isn't instantaneous.

Jim brings up a good point. Make sure after you see the preview to check-off the scenes or click on ALL and see what happens. AVCHD should work fine.

thanks to Jim and Lou for your continuing kind help! You're helping me run out of options. a) both in my 1080/60p and AVCHD trails I have only 2-3 mins of footage to record into my S2000 and I've allowed as much as 30mins for this meager footage to record and get no responses. b) on my Bogart V3.2 there is no "preview". Only "display contents". I've also clicked "all" and "ok" which simply takes me back to the basic record window. Nothing has ever been displayed - video or names of files on the left display. I'm trying to call MSUS this morning then send the cam back. Wondering now what "consumer" HD cam to buy?? Cams with an 1080/60p recording option - in addition to AVCHD - scare me after this drama I've been thru. But, 1080/60p seems to be the direction cams are going this year and Macro Sys is clearly behind the curve on this!! Let's let MSUS know we want this upgrade in the V4 architecture. I've been told by MSUS this is how an upgrade by Germany will happen. You all agree? thanks again!
