BlueBox World Problem

Using the a S4000 pro with the latest Bogart 4.1c since release had no problems with other software's until I tried to use the BlueBox world software. When attempting to run the program the graphic display would distort in various ways the program would crash or lock up. After what appeared to be a crash it would return to the home screen with a message that clears before I could figure out what it says.

In an attempt to fix the problem I would try and delete it but the program does not seem to get removed. I tried reinstalling but since it is not removed that does not work either. Now It does not even show up on the list of software's to use when selecting from available transitions.

On the list of programs that are available it currently is showing as active but again not available on the transitions list.

Anyone have this problem or similar? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I hope to avoid having to do a complete reinstallation of the bogart software.

David,

Blue Box World doesn't work on Bogart 4.1C. They are working on it......... but no word on when. It is one of the programs that MacroSystem purchased from another supplier and it worked great on the Smart Edit generation two machines, and must be completely re-done for the Bogart system on the Generation Three machines. I have read that testing is underway on it, but no dates have been mentioned for release.

David,

As Jim pointed out, Blue Box World (and Candy Factory) are Casablanca add-on programs that were operational in Bogart V3 (and lower) but are not in Bogart V4.1C.

Until a revised version is available in NTSC (it has been released in PAL) you do have a work-around to use Blue Box World and Candy Factory on your Bogart editor - go into the System Settings Menu, click into Install Product and select Bogart V4.1c - click Hide (not delete, but Hide). Then click OK. This will 'hide' the V4.1C version and you will revert to using whatever last version you had licensed (for many that will be Bogart V3).

You can then use these two software applications and go back to Bogart V4.1C by entering the same menu and click 'activate'. Since you have just hidden the OS version there is no need to reenter codes or install your software. It will come back active in a few moments.

Hope that helps!

Regards,
Chet

Well that is depressingly frustrating. I suppose that explains why I can't get the bluebox program to function ether?

Hoping for a miracle here I'll ask this question. Is there any other way to create a font with a video background? My original goal was to use the green screen effect to create a font that had an animated water look and feel.

Are there any other tools that can simulate this need? I hate to do this as I have invested quite a bit into the s4000 but At this point I would entrain the thought of a tool outside of the Cassie system like PC or mac.

As Chet said, just turn v4 off, use BBW and turn it (v4) back on again.

Bogart v4.1f (PAL) allows BBW (and Candy) to work just fine and the US, I'm sure, will get that soon.

Not aware the the standard effect, Blue Box, was affected - works ok here (UK).

The use of keying with BlueBox World is time consuming as the fonts have to be set up for keying.

Use CANDY FACTORY instead of BlueBox World and use the INVERSE MASK check-off box to thick white lettering on a background. The VIDEO of water should be the adjacent scene and will bleed through the lettering. If I recall, go to the ARHIVES to produce a backgound then INVERSE the process letting VIDEO bleed through the lettering. I am sure CHET has the steps on http://www.casablancaexpert.com

Thanks Lou,
I did not even consider that and will try it tonight as it may save my butt on this need and allow me to finish up this project.

I did try the suggestions of reverting to the old version and going from there and ran into some additional problems. My bluebox world shows active but not available and this may be a glitch as a result of my initial post of deleting the applications to attempt to resolve the problem.

So I am in a tough spot here with a few projects on the drive at various stages. I am hoping I do not have to reinstall new again. Is there anyway to get the BBW to come back or reinstall? Deleting it does not appear to do the trick. I have hidden it and reactivated it, I have deleted it (it never went away) and then restarted the system, the name was still there but still not available in the transitions section.

I am open to any suggestions as I am unsure what to do next.

Go to the INSTALL product and HIDE Bogart 4. You will now observe BOGART 3.6 which is the foundation for BOGART 4. Do you see the prior BOGART 3? Did you do a FULL INSTALL prior of BOGART4 or just an update? I am going to take a guess only. I think a full install of BOGART 4 was necessary in order to go back properly to gain your results.

Use BlueBox and Candy Factory as you normally would. Save to your scene bin, as we always do and to the storyboard. Now, after you are finished, go BACK to the INSTALL PROJECT area and bring back BOGART 4-ACTIVATE. Note: At no time did you ever lose BOGART 4....you simply hid same and made the aforementioned software functional using BOGART 3.6.

It is my understanding that this procedure will no longer be needed with the new free update of Bogart 4.1 something.
