Boot-up Problems S-2000

Been having problems with the S-2000 staying on. It will freeze up and go black. The power will stay on, but a black screen.
I have been unplugging it for the 2 hours or overnight and it has been rebooting but eventually shut off again while working on a project. Yesterday, it booted up for about 2 min and shut off from the menu screen.

Now it seems like it's not going to boot up at all. Did not boot up this morning after being unplugged overnight.
On boot-up it does not beep, but the line under Macrosystem advances to the end and finishes. Thought maybe it was a monitor issue. Tried different monitor methods and used the right mouse button for 5 sec method also to change it. No luck.

Beginning to think its dead.

I want to try and update it from 3.2c OS to 3.6 but cannot even get the CD drawer to open. (No disc is in there either. I have had to use the Emergengy flash drive method before to get the draw open)

Any Ideas out there?

(Replying to my own problem.)

I teach school using these editors and have 4 machines. Has anyone changes hard drives and put one in another machine?

Or is the hard drive the problem? Not sure how to get the cover off. Looks like special torque screws?

I know what it's like teaching a program and depending on equipment. The absence of beeps concerns me - I would call Tech Support at 303-801-1010 to verify.

If the unit/s are still under warranty I do not advise opening up the box. And yes, it is a Torx wrench that allows you to remove the cover (when it's no longer in warranty and you feel safe to do so ;) )

Regards,
Chet

Coach,

It sounds like you may have a RAM stick that has un-logged itself. The same simptom occurred on my S-4100 a couple of years ago, and MS re-seated the RAM and it fixed the problem. As Chet recommended, contact MS tch support and they will take care of you.

I've had a boot up problem since I bought the 2000Pro . I have to power it down several times and turn it on till it finally fires up. Some one mention they had to reseat the ram and it now works. Could that be my problem? I'm ready to install a Bluray player/burner anyway. Might as well reseat the ram, hope that works. It' embarassing having to sit the with the customer waiting for it it start working.

I'm up and running again. Finally had to open the CD casing and slip in a OS update. It read it enough to boot it back up and restore the corrupted files.
Updated to Bogart 3.6c and things seem to be working okay.
