Jittery Picture $ More

When I import footage from a VHS tape or a DVD using the back input, usually s-video or RA jacks the picture seems okay, but when I burn it to DVD the picture is unwatchable because it is so shakey. Also sometimes when I push record the picture doesn't show at all only the sound. When I push edit it has successfully recorded to the scene bin. I use the S-3000. Any help would be appreciated.
