AVIO crash

I have attempted 3 times to make a title and each time the AVIO crashed and rebooted. The error stated there was an unrecoverable problem. The box was edged in red. I have never had this or any other crash problem with this unit. I need to figure out the cause - hardware (hard drive, etc) or saftware. I am editing ALL of my siblings old 8mm film that have been transfered. I have just started and so there is not a lot of editing time lost. But I need to figure out what to do to fix this. I still have a lot of editing to do. I would appreciate any help/suggestions. Thanks.

There was a problem with an operating system about your vintage that would crash every time you exceeded a certain number of characters on one line in the title screen. It was corrected by a later version of the operating system. I think it was about 14 or15 characters per line including spaces. It was very repeatable. If you can confirm the problem, installing a later version of the same OS would correct the problem. i.e. go from 3.1d to 3.1e or something like that. It did not require purchasing a new upgrade such as an OS 4.xx. The problem could be fixed with an upgrade and not a full destructive install eliminating the problem of losing all of your work.

It was actually some where around 42 characters, but I cannot remember the OS version either.
It was corrected with the next free . update.

Thanks for your response. I turned it off and went back to it a bit later. When I tried it again on another if worked fine. So, I tried it again on the same clip I was originally working with. It worked with no problem. Maybe it was hicup. I just want to make sure it wasnt a hardware problem. I don't want to continue to edit and have it crash and lose hours of editing. Thanks again.
