As my camera has removable cards I use a card reader - very easy and means the camera 'can' be somewhere else if needed.

One camera I have to use the camera out to USB input to the S4000 I can not use the card reader with the CF card. My Canon XF-100 I found out the old card reader I had a long time ago works better than using the camera USB out. Saves wear and tear on my camera. I don't know what I'm worried about, it has no moving parts. :?:

I like USB sticks. If I decide to save on my PC the camera files, I just COPY the same files to a USB FLASH.

I too find the ability to download a video file via USB much more convenient than a video stream via DV (Firewire). For clarification - a modern camcorder will (I believe) have one capability or the other... HDV is transported via DV cable while an AVCHD, AVI, MOV (all video files) are transported via USB and cannot be transferred via DV cable.

Not correcting anyone here, just clarifying this in case there are folks who are looking for their next camera purchase and wondering about the technology.

Chet

I too can say that using USB is the way to go. It is faster than real-time when importing into Bogart direct via the video record/capture window. Also, for just a few extra dollars, I recommend purchasing an external USB card reader/writer to compliment the camera & format you choose. This will "free" up the camera to continue shooting with another card while importing the footage to your Casablanca.
