You have a choice of single VGA (connected by DVI adapter) a single HDMI/DVI or both VGA and HDMI/DVI. I find a single HDMI of around 22" Full HD is the most suitable. HD produces such a clear image that the advantages of twin screen are now all but lost. If you choose a TV rather than "monitor" you will also have additional sockets for Video/Audio in and VGA, plus a TV, so this screen can multi-task.
DVI is the more sturdy HD connector but has no audio. If you choose a monitor using this socket you will need an audio cable and probably speakers.
To confuse matters even further some monitors use DVI-D connectors which are slightly different to DVI. Adapters to HDMI are available.
NB. PC speakers now can be USB only connection. These do not work on S machines. You need powered speakers with headphone jack. Some speakers have USB for power + speaker jack, these work fine.
Life used to be so simple.........

If you decide on HDMI only, you must visit Media Manager and assign audio to the HDMI out of the newer units. I never knew this till recently advised by others as I utilize DVI in a 2 monitor set up.
