I got a call from a client who has 2400ft reels of 1/2" video tape, marked:
2400-R86B, that he would like transferred to DVD.
Sounds like something from the pre-video cassette days.
Does anyone know of this format, and what machines can play them, and if they're still in existance ?
Video Tape Format ?

Re: Video Tape Format ?
Out of curiosity I did a quick Google search on this and came up with this site http://www.technicalaudio.com/about.html It might be worthwhile contacting him. I believe this tape is an old professional format from the 60's?
I also found this old catalogue (pdf) which some member might find interesting. http://www.technicalaudio.com/pdf/Sonoc ... 91-116.pdf

Re: Video Tape Format ?
Thank you, Martyn.
I have confirmed that it was 1/2" EIAJ, which was a reel to reel video format from the 60s.
I have passed on your info to my client.
On the nostalgia front, as a fellow Brit, I used to use the Cresta GS interface, for pulse syncing my Elmo GS 1200 Super 8 sound projector to a Fostex X-15 multitrack cassette recorder to produce great sound tracks for my movies.
Those were the days !
