best way to input a supplemental dvd?
I make educational travel videos - both bluray and dvd - with my HD videocam and S2000 Cassie - Bogart 3.2, Arabesk 4.9. I often augment my own HD video with supplementary dvds - usually SD dvds - using the clipboard method in which they get "converted" into my HD project (1440X1080i setting). I use a dvd player and RCA connection into my S2000 to transfer these SD dvds. My player has no S-video port and the S2000 HDMI port in "not supported" for my bluray player. Hence, the least desired RCA connection. Questions: is there a way to record these SD dvds into an HD project with a better picture quality than what I've described? I don't expect them to be 1080HD quality. Does the long "conversion" process upgrade picture quality at all? It's difficult to determine that. thanks!

I just did a search using HDMI to s-video convertor and there were a number of options. I don't know if Bogart machines give you component in but if they do you could do a search using that term also.

Re: best way to input a supplemental dvd?
thanks, CKN, for your help. My 2 dvd players have component output ports but the S2000 editor does not have a component input port. It does have a S-video input but the 2 players do not output in S-video. So, until someone in this forum has a better way around this dilemna, I will continue using the RCA method and regretting the poor quality. Does anyone know if the conversion process in the clipboard method does upgrade the video quality when doing an HD project?

Although they are not the rule, there are still a few DVD players available that offer an S-Video out for under $100. I found 4 at Best Buy on their website. Ebay should have an abundance of them even new. Here's an example at $104 http://tinyurl.com/82k7pty

Excellent idea, Bob. I'll check it out. I'd assumed they were all about the same. thanks, Gordon
