Okay. We have had several cast meetings. Everyone is gung ho for DEATH WALKS BEHIND YOU. Optimistic. We believe we will get green-lighted. We are on a roll for our next production.
LOL. I know just enough to get myself in trouble.
I have done a lot of reading on the Canon C300, coming out March 30th. Aware of the price plus lens plus all the needed accessories. We may be able to cover the cost (with limited fixed lens purchases and EF loaners) and an additional cut here and there on other predicted and budgeted costs.
Here are some questions.
Will I be able to edit at the 24p that the camera offers on the S6000? Or will I have to stay at 30p?
What complications can I expect by using the Canon C300 footage on the S6000 (just purchased)?
What additional products will I have to purchase to be able to edit footage from the C 300 on the S6000?
While I have had no problems in the past working with Pro Hi-8, then Pro DVcam on any Microsystem's editing system (I have had several different systems), I am taking a big leap jumping from 4 DVcam cameras/format (up to 3 - 1/2" chips) to a 35 mm full frame (3840x2160) camera. So. Fear of the super unknown...
Before I take that leap. What should I be aware of. Feel free to E-mail me. I have time to learn and prepare before we go into production and purchase a new high-end camera. The script is polished and A+ by all that have read it. The cast is excellent -- all extremely ON BOARD. We have the locations needed. Not a lot of SFX or intricate production needs (I am competent behind the camera, lighting, audio recording and editing)... Canon D5 and D7 are out of the running as a usable format on our upcoming projects -- we need a 'motion picture' style of camera.
We are looking for the best and most marketable 'end' format. Don't want to limit our final product before we start. Many here on these threads know so much more than I. Some sell cameras and are very up to date on technology. Could really use any information that you could throw my way.
Thank you in advance.

No Canon C300 is 4k file at this time s-6000 wont work with those file
24P wont work very good, audio will get out of synchronize, and s-6000
will crash many times when you are working with 24p, a suggest stay
on 30P to avoid nightmares.
This has been my experience playing with 24P,maybe a few folks have better lucky

Hi Stone,
Congrats on this exciting news !!
My experience using 24p on the XF300 was not good both visually & some audio sync issues.
60p also results in looking like 30p it is not a true 60p in Bogart.
I think the C300 does not shoot above 1080p so 4K is not an issue. Will there be other issues maybe Lou or Seth would know better.
Have you checked this out ? seems like an incredible camera enjoy !!

I know that h264 works fine in Bogart &
in defence of the 5D & HDSLR's they do have a motion picture look !
http://philipbloom.net/category/films/dslr-films/

but the C300 will be easier for you to work with for sure & its pretty compact + incredible ISO
Can't wait to see your footage !

Re: Canon C300 @24p with S6000 -- possible?
We have not bought the Canon EOS C300 yet. We are still exploring whether we will be able to purchase the C300 -- expensive, camera, plus, add to that all the additional cost for lens, cards and batteries. We believe we can afford and budget it in by cutting back on new lighting systems, crane and dollies. But it will be tight. We'll stick with our old halogen work lights attached to poles in cement in 5 gallon paint buckets. LOL. Our old digital audio recording systems still have life.
Camera won't be available until March 30th. We don't start production until April. We have time to explore our options.
What is very important, is that there is NO problem editing footage from the C300 on the S6000. Just bought the S6000, cannot afford another editing system. We can live with the 30p, (but we must be able to use the 50 Mbps rate). We need to get the best image and audio from the finished edit (to be transfered to another hard drive with also making BluRay copies).
Have read almost every article and seen all the clips on the Internet on the C300. Have not held the camera. THAT is my fear, that it will not work seamlessly with my current editing system (S6000) just purchased. Love the ease of the S6000 with Pro Dvcam, but DVcam is out the door with next camera purchased. What ever that camera is -- will have to work for the next 5 years on projects lined up and ready.
Thanks for any comments, suggestions or warnings. I am not as on top of tech as many of you are.
