I have a new S6000 and want to output a 4:3 project into my sony vx2100 camera to miniDV and it will not work. I did this all the time with no issues with my Prestidge. any ideas why?

It is an SD (not HDV) Project?

If the Create button in the Finish screen is active you have to select it and let it render the Project prior to it allowing you to export the Project.

You have the VX2100 in Tape deck mode with a tape set in the write mode (write protect tab not closed), correct?

You are using firewire?

If so, do you have the analog (composite) cable connected?

While the analog cable can be connected when inputting from the VX2100 to the Bogart unit (analog to digital pass through), I believe I remember the VX won't allow firewire input TO the VX with the analog composite cable plugged in.

Other than that, sometimes there were communication handshake issues which turning the units off and then on again can sometimes fix.

Have you verified the firewire input works on the VX2100 with anything else like another camcorder to eliminate the possibility that it is the VX and not the S6000?

Otherwise, I am out of ideas currently.

On the VX2000/2100/PD 150/170 the firewire has to be disconnected from the firewire port when output menu adjustments are executed.

First....disconnect the firewire AFTER power-down the camera. ALWAYS power-down the camera when connecting or disconnecting a firewire attached to an editing system.

POWER-UP-minus the firewire being connected.

Go to the menu and make your video output changes and power-down the camera.

Re-Connect the firewire and power-up again while CONNECTED to your system

See if the firewire is recognized now.

SONY cameras do not like to have menu adjustments while the firewire is attached. Hopefully that is your issue.
