System Locked

I was loading a HD file 63% in and the 4000 froze. I did a forced restart from the front two buttons. The system hangs with Macro system in the display. Great time to crash during my busy season. Anyone have an Idea what to do next?

Make sure nothing is plugged into any of the usb ports.

The bootup bar goes all the way across and then goes to a screen (macro System) Tray will not open and nothing on the lcd monitor. (hdmi connection)
All usb cables unpluged. Maybe the hard drive is gone. Though I think I hear it startup.

Is it possible that there may be a disc in the tray? If so, the unit may be trying to boot from that disc. Try pressing the "disc open" button several times as it begins the startup process. There are other methods of getting the tray open as others have suggested.

Bill,
Yeah, sounds like a disc in the tray glitch.
Repetitively press the Esc key (upper right hand corner) on the physical keyboard during the entire boot up process and that should force the burner drawer open.
Once it's open remove the CD/DVD and the unit should come up normal on the next power up.

Pressed the esc key the door would not open.

Bill, it should have opened the drawer regardless of whether there was a DVD in it or not or even if the hard drive is faulty I believe as that is supposed to be a bios command.
Try it both ways as I don't remember which way it works for sure.
I thought it was pressing the Esc key repeatedly during the entire power up sequence (press power, start repeatedly hitting the Esc key), but if that doesn't work try just holding the Esc key down during the entire power up.

I tried both ways and the tray would not open. I don't think I had a disk in it as I was loading in from a memory card on the usb line.

Weird it doesn't work. The keyboard is plugged in and you have a 4000, correct?
This does not work with the 4100 series which requires a convoluted extra software program inserted with a USB stick.
As for your question about the Seagate, a SATA drive is required for the 4000 and so I believe that drive would be compatible, but I am not sure if the Bogart software will recognize 2TB.
My personal philosophy is that is too much storage for primary video editing.
It is a matter of putting too many eggs in one basket in my mind.
With the Bogart units I would recommend using multiple smaller external drives that you keep dedicated to single (or just a few) Projects a piece using the Bogart software that allows you to use external drives.

I could not get the dvd door to open both ways. I have disconnected all plugs and tried, still no door. I have also disconnected the hard drive and the Macrosystem logo still comes up. I will first replace the dvd burner and then the hard drive. I live on the east coast and called tech support 2 days in a row. Left my number and got no return calls, Oh Ya I just remembered they must be out selling the latest release of Bogart!
