The restore is as follows:-
1. With Bogart SE V4, from the main Bogart SE menu, click the HD-Backup button in the settings window.
2. A box opens with 3 choices, click on the “Restore projects (Restore)” option.
3. A screen showing the source data i.e. Backup media, external HDD name and a list of all the backup dates and time. Select the appropriate HDD and the backup required, usually the latest. This screen also shows the destination, i.e. the internal HDD with some information of capacity and projects in progress.
4. When the source settings in step 3 have been completed, click the “Start Restore” button.

However, you cannot restore individual files, this will restore the whole backup and replace what ever is currently on the HDD.

Having had a second thought, there is a way that individual files can be brought back into a current project, but it would be a long time consuming and torturous route.

The outline process is as follows.

1. Do a backup of the current internal HDD
2. Do a restore of the internal HDD, but use the version that has the data you wish to recover.
3. All the files (scenes) that you want to recover, put them in an empty project, add to the story board and do a storyboard backup of that project.
4. Carry out another restore of the internal HDD, using the backup you made in step 1.
5. Finally do a storyboard restore, of the material you backed up in step 3.

You should now have your current data, plus the data you require from a previous backup.

Not for the faint hearted, but doable.

A few weeks back, I posted a detailed backup process, if you need more info on the options.

The question is . . . what is "some" footage ?
If it's a previous "Project" back-up then that can just be re-stored into an empty project.
If it's an HD Back-up (HD = Hard Drive) then you can restore the whole lot back onto the internal BUT the existing footage will be over written.
If it's an HD Back-up and you just want to access the files (to edit on) Store 'n' Share will allow you to change this to a working environment so that you can directly edit on the external as if it were the internal.
If you want to add some backed up footage to an internal project then you can use Store 'n' Share to 'change' it into a working environment. Back up that particular project and then restore it to an internal project.

Just depends what "some footage' is . . . :?:

1. If you want to add project(s) from the internal drive and project(s) from the "Store 'n' Share" drive to the same DVD then select the projects in Arabesk while going to Arabesk from the drive they are on and create them. Then move to the other drive and do the same thing. Then you can have projects from either the internal or Store 'n' Share drive on the same DVD.
2. If you want to move video from the Store 'n' Share drive to the internal drive. Place the wanted viceo clips on the Storyboard. Then use the Projects choice from the Settings menu list.
a. At the bottom of the screen on the right side is a Mode section. Set the top box to DV Backup (this choice will save the individual clips when you Restore them).
b. Besure the "hard drive" or "Thumb Drive (Flash Drive?)" is connected to the Cassie Editor. Then on the left side at the bottom area under the Backup/Resore section select Backup storyboard. Select what drive or device you wish to recieve the files. Name the file. Click OK.
c. When the Backup finishes then in the upper left "Hard-drive" use the Select box to select the internal drive.
d. Then select the project you wish to Restore the saved video clips to.
e. With the correct project selected and the location in the Scene Bin selected where you want the clips to arrive. Select Projects. Use the Backup/Restore menu. Select Restore storyboard. Select the hard drive or device you Backedup the Storyboard to. Select the filename and click OK.

To move files from the internal drive to the Store 'n' Share drive just follow the above steps starting from the internal drive to the Store 'n' Share drive.

In an earlier reply, I said that individual scenes could not be recovered and added to a current project. I now know this is not true. My thanks to my friend Michael D, who gave me some direction, I have put together this process for recovering individual scenes to a current project.

I am now working with Bogart V5, but i think this works with V4

Importing and Exporting USB Material (From S “n” S)

Exporting scenes to a USB device
1. Select the scene in the scene bin, to be exported.
2. Click the “opt” button on the lower right of the screen, which opens an “Options” window
3. There is an option called “Export actual scene”, but first click the “opt” button in this line and set the quality of the export. The only export option is AVI, but the quality can be set, e.g. 14MBits/s.
4. Click the “Export actual scene” button.
5. In the “Export actual scene” window that opens, choose the destination that the scene should be exported to, e.g. USB Data-Traveler

The scene will be copied to the USB device.

Exporting (recovering) scenes from external back-ups, etc.
The above describes how scenes can be exported from the internal HDD to a USB device, but scenes from a backup can also be recovered in the same way.

1. From project settings, click the “Select” button in the top section of the screen
2. This opens a “Hard-drive selection” window, which will display internal and all the USB storage devices connected to the Cassie. e.g. Project HDD No1, with the name and date of the saved backups.
3. Select the backup from which the scenes are required to be recovered and click “OK”
4. A box opens which says “Do you really want to use this backup as a project environment, click “Yes” This will open up the main menu of the external drive, which looks exactly the same as the internal drive, but has previously saved material.
5. Access the projects as normal, select the scene(s) in the scene bin that are required to be recovered and export to a USB stick as described above.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 3, but this time select the “Internal” HDD in step 3, which will bring us back to normal.

Importing from a USB device
Any AVI files can be imported from a USB device, in this case, files from a saved backup.

1. Select the project that the material is to be imported and go into the “record menu.
2. Click the USB symbol, which opens a window called “Import material from USB/CD/DVD”.
3. Click on “Devices”, which lists all USB and external media connected.
4. Select the USB device with the material from above and all the scenes will be listed. Put a check mark against all the scenes required for import and click “OK”

All, the selected scenes will be imported to this project and placed in the scene bin.

Hope this helps
