Videojim, you can delete a project in any order. If you're speaking of scene bin folders I don't know as I'm still on OS 6.

Hello Jim,

I'm Jim also. You may delete the contents of a project but not the empty project areas. If you have the Renommee then you will have at least Smart Edit 6.0 or maybe Smart Edit 7.0 as that is the latest version. These systems come with 30 empty projects available to work in. You may fill them up as you wish and when you have active content in one of them there will be a small white dot to the right of the project name area.....to show that there is something in there.

By re-reading your question , I think you are asking if you can delete the empty projects areas when you are finished with your video that was stored in one of them. You may delete the video from the project but the project area will be there always, so that you can add new material to them later. There are 30 projects now in the later operating systems. When we first started with Casablanca, there were only three, so we had to be careful what we wanted to store in them as there were not many choices of projects.

If you are wanting to tidy up the projects area and have them filled in without any empty projects in between, you can use the "Clipboard" feature under "special" and clipboard the finished video into and empty project if you want. If you have video in projects one, five, and 10.....you can move them up to be in a more pleasing order, with video in projects one, two and three. Then projects four through 30 will still be open and available to edit in as you need.

In order to make this work you will want to create a "SCENE" of the finished project and then "Clipboard" the entire scene into the empty project. This way you can have projects in the order that you want. Like this: Project one * Project Two * Project Three * Project Four, Project Five,----------------------Project 30.

In this demonstration the asterisk represents the white dot and shows that there is video in project one, two, and three but nothing else in the projects all the way to project 30.

Is this what you wanted to know? If not, let us know and we'll try to answer again. And oh. yes, Welcome to the forum, it's the friendliest place on the web.

Yeah, Jim. That was it. As usual, I am going to have to read and re-read and ask again to get it right. Just my slow, old brain.
Chet's instructional video went so fast, its going to take many, many viewings to get it all down. But the update to V7 (which I have) was VERY helpful. Just need to spend LOTS of time with this thing, go out and shoot some material, play with some more, until I get comfy with it. Gonna be awhile, I know. Thanks for all the help!

Hi Jim,

You'll have a lot of fun figuring out what all the neat things that your Casablanca can do for you. And yes, getting in there and shooting footage and trying some of the new things that you hadn't played with before... you will start to make sense of it all very shortly.

Something else to keep in mind for the future. We hold a yearly convention for Casablanca users each March and it's held right in the middle of the country so that it's easy to get to from all over America. We have a web site that will show you all about it and it's even got some videos to watch of Chet and Jörg and many of the other members of this forum and the List that Carroll Lam has for Cassie Users. Oh Yeah, I'm in it too!

You can check it out at http://www.marchgettogether.com

I think you'll find it to be a valuable experience and lot of fun as well. Just look at the video of members being pushed into the swimming pool all to make a music video during the meeting. It was riot.
There is even a place where you can send in your videos to be shown on the web if you like.

Jim,
Well, thanks! The event looks like fun, but it would be good if it could come further south, like St. Louis, or something. We here in the South don't think ANYthing in Iowa is ANYwhere but out in the middle of NOwhere, lol. Besides how close is it to being flooded? Sounds like fun, tho. Thanks, JIm

Jim (Video that is)
The first year Jim (Meeker I’m referring to this time) ran the March get together, we expected it to be run in the known centre of the Universe. That’s Yorkshire in England, for those who have forgotten this otherwise well known fact.

However, Jim unfortunately got the venues slightly wrong and booked the hotel in Moline IL, so we (that’s Martyn and myself) went over there instead.

Despite Jim M’s total lack of knowledge, that is with respect to the top world venues, such as Hull Yorkshire, the event was a great success and has been every year since then.

What I’m getting at is that Iowa / Illinois is but a mere hop and a skip from your part of the world, compared to our titanic journey.

Seriously, if you can make the trip, you will not be disappointed.

Ian

Hi Video Jim,

it would be great if you could fill in your tag line with your real name and town so that it shows up at the bottom of your posts. We try to get to know everyone here as friends and knowing the names really helps keep this the friendliest place on the web. See the tag lines at the bottom of most of the postings here to see what it looks like. Once you put it in the user control panel it will automatically be entered in each of your posts and you don't have to type it in each time.

I see that you are from the Mid-South which is only a one day's drive from here or a two or so hour plane ride, so we aren 't too far out in no-whereland. We do have people attend from the deep south and people from the east coast and many also from the far west. Some even find their way all the way down here from Canada each year. Our average attendance each year has been over a hundred Cassie users who travel way more the one day to get here. But for nearly four days of fun and learning is't well worth it.

When you visited the web site did you find the Free gift that is hidden away there for everyone who looks for it. It's something kind of nice and something that all video editors can use on a fairly regular basis.

We will be sending out more information about next year's March Get Together as it is nailed down....and you'll find it here and on the web site both.

But do keep asking questions here so we can all help out with your early training on the the Casablanca editing machines.
Soon you'll be one of the experts answering questions for others when they ask.

See Ya.
