S-4000 Monitor Connections
I have my S-4000 conected to a Dell 22" monitor using the supplied DVI to HDMI cable. There is a green tint in the video I downloaded. I connected the same S-4000 to a TV monitor using S-video and all is well. Could it be a cable issue or is there a setting that I need to adjust?

Re: S-4000 Monitor Connections
Hello Clint,
I have not experienced that green tint on DVI/HDMI output... the only setting on the S-4000/PRO is the Screen/Output setting which must be set to DVI but you obviously had that set correctly or you would not see anything.
Perhaps there is a setting in your monitor that may affect the tint? I did a Google search just now and came up with several hits on this issue with different monitors.
Regards,
Chet

Chet:
Problem solved!! It was the RGB option setting on my monitor. But I had to reset the S-4000 to the default colors before I could tell the difference. I tried to adjust the color on my S-4000 and then change to the RGB setting but the color was still off. Leave the S-4000 in the default color mode and then adjust the monitor.
Clint and I thank you for your response.

I am having problems getting S4K to accept footage from my HV 30. Any others having this problem? What connections are you using? HD not recognized,
Jeff

Re: S-4000 Monitor Connections
Jeff,
set your camera to HDV output. Then start a new project in Bogart SE in the project settings. Select the "format" "HD" for it.
Connect the camera via Firewire at the fron (4 pin) or at the back of the unit (6 pin, right next to the green PS2 interface).
In the "Recording" menu you can control the drive of the camera and start playback. As soon as you see a motion video at the camera's display, you can start recording the footage to the S4000 hard drive. Use the red "HDV" record button.
During recording you will see a "preview" image.

Re: S-4000 Monitor Connections
I have my 4000 connected to a tv (rcv jacks) when I load via firewire. Thepicture on the tv is at first out of sync and then it freezes. The video still loads but I get no preview. I have bought a new 19 hdtv and connected it up but have one question. I have not changed the monitor settings to the hdtv. Once I change will I be able to see the system window if there is a problem with the new hdtv as I have projects loaded on the system or will I have no screen?

Re: S-4000 Monitor Connections
The HV-30 plays fine on my unit and the one in our shop. It is very important that when changing the menu to output from the HV-30 that the firewire is NOT connected to make a menu change. After the change to output, connect the camera to the firewire BUT make sure that the camera is powered-off before making the connection.
